GSEs Announce Short Sale Changes
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs), announced changes to their Standard Short Sale guidelines to improve transparency and marketing of listed properties that require GSE approval. Starting August 1, 2013, any property being considered for short sale approval must be listed on the multiple listing service (MLS) for five consecutive days, including one weekend, prior to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac approving a short sale offer. REALTORS� Call for Legislative Changes to Rules Limiting Affordable Borrowing Options
Congress should consider redefining the new ability-to-repay requirements for Qualified Mortgages to avoid limiting affordable borrowing options for creditworthy buyers, said the National Association of REALTORS� in recent testimony before the House Financial Services Committee. Read more.

Montgomery County Plan Updates: Glenmont and Long Branch
The Montgomery County Planning Board approved the Planning Board Draft of the Glenmont Sector Plan. Public hearings are anticipated in the Fall of 2013. The County Council also received the draft of the Long Branch Sector Plan. A public hearing is scheduled for July 2013. Stay up to date on Sector Plan updates.
