Time to Reboot

Quotes Of the Month

"It is our best work that God wants, not the dregs of exhaustion. I think God must prefer quality to quantity."

~George MacDonald

"The mind is but a barren soil which is soon exhausted and will produce no crop, or only one, unless it be continually fertilized and enriched with foreign matter."

~Sir Joshua Reynolds

Prayer for the Month

"Spirit of God,
bright Wind,
breath that bids life begin,
blow as you always do; create us anew.
Give us the breath to sing,
lifted on soaring wing, held in your hands, borne on your wings. Come, Spirit, Come"

~Steve Garnaas-Holmes

Greetings!

Happy New Year! Now that the holiday rush is over, many church professionals find themselves worn out.  But it is essential to ministry excellence that we do not choose exhaustion as a normal way of life. So this month's theme is:  'Time to Reboot'

      ~Enjoy!  ~ Sharon

Reboot

When coming off of a season filled with activity and busyness, church leaders often enter into January with a feeling of despondency. It is easy to abandon an upbeat attitude when we are feeling physically, emotionally and spiritually depleted. The question to ask ourselves is: "I am able to give my best right now?" If the answer is "no", it is time to reboot.

Exhaustion does not need to be a way of life! We each have the power to intentionally engage strategies that will fuel our renewal. The choices are unlimited. A relaxing vacation or refreshing study leave may be optimal, but a plan that requires significant time and resources is not necessary. Consider taking a day-off and lounging around in your pajamas. Begin a new routine like walking in the park or going home for lunch or arriving at the office an hour later than usual. You could take a yoga class or cook a healthy meal or take nap. The foundational element of a personal renewal plan is intentionality. Once we own the need and claim the personal power to change course, we are able to creatively engage the breadth of options available to us.

  • Is exhaustion hampering your ability to serve with excellence?
  • What is one thing you can do today to change course?
  • How will you design and engage a personal renewal strategy?
Will this be YOUR year?
  • Are you on the precipice of something new?
  • Are you optimistically curious about your future?
  • Are you eager to make changes in your life ?  logo
