Candy Cane Bread  Candy Canes with a Twist
Make the basic whole wheat bread recipe (Click here)

Step One:
Divide the dough into small ropes.

Step Two:
Butter the ropes.  Roll one rope in white sugar.  Roll one rope in sugar dyed red.  Twist the two ropes and form into a candy cane.  Put immediately into the oven.  You don't want to let the bread candy canes rise as it will  distort the shape.

Step Three:
Bake 350 till beginning to brown...about 15 minutes.

Enjoy eating...my family sure did!!

Bosch Universal Plus Mixer

I found Paula's Bread through another blog I was following, and was so excited to see her reasonable prices and quality products. I now own a Bosch and am loving it! I use it almost every day, making healthful and tasty food for our family. Paula was very helpful on the phone, informing me about different products and helping me to make a decision on attachments & parts. And the best part is that this puppy will pay for itself in about 6-12 months with the amount of whole wheat bread our family of six goes through. I love a machine that can save money and help us live healthier. Thanks, Paula!!

I attended one of your bread seminars at the MPE conference in Kansas City and learned so much. You really showed me what a valuable investment a Bosch is and I refer to your blog often for advice & recipes. Thanks so much! Keep up the great work.

KEEPING Traditions alive but without the forced mode setting in...what am I referring to?

We have traditions that we have done since the kids were little.  They have now outgrown many with their kids taking the roles now...decorating the tree, etc.

This past Thanksgiving, I was blessed to have all my kids home for the first time in 5 years.  As we reminisced and talked about family, I heard their heart of dreams for our family.  They shared they were more focused on fellowship than the activity. At first, I bristled at the thought of changing our traditions, but as I thought about it, it made sense.  Isn't the purpose of traditions to bring family close?  Traditions are ways to bond the family.  We heard our kids hearts and made some decisions....we will still do some of the old traditions but with a new flexible mode.  This means dinner might not happen at noon sharp but maybe when the babies are up from their naps and happier.  This means we might not have ALL the traditional foods or desserts, if the cook isn't up to it.  One son suggested pizza for Thanksgiving Dinner...that is a stretch for me! :)  You get the point.  Just as we are to worship the Creator not the creation, we need to keep our focus on family not the tradition.

May your Christmas season be filled with traditions that allow your family to bond together and build memories with each other.

Encouraging Thoughts...
by "The Inspirational Study Bible"

"Grace is what someone gives us out of the goodness of His heart, not out of the perfection of ours.  The story of grace is the good news that says that when we come, He gives.  Grace is something you did not expect.  It is something you certainly could never earn.  But grace is something you'd never turn down.  You know what happens when someone...really tastes the forgiving and liberating grace of God?  Some one who tastes God's grace is the hardest worker, the more morally pure individual, and the person most willing to forgive."
