Shaping the future of roadway safety.
October 13, 2015
- In this edition we have added new features to the report and are introducing a process for calibrating the GPS-PRO device.
Report Customization Options - We have expanded the curve report to include separate sections for the chevron spacing requirements, the data session used in the analysis, which includes the calibration record, graphs, detailed processed curve data, and the details of the raw collected data. Each of these elements can be included or excluded from the Setting tab. Learn More
Expanded Report view options - You can now hide or show each of the reports elements on the curve report page. Click Show or Hide to expand or collapse each section. Learn More
Curve & Grade ClassificationsThe FWHA Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) 2014 field manual - chapter 4, item 43 - provides for Curves to be classified based on deflection angle. The Curve classification is now listed on the Advisory summary block on both the web and PDF reports.
Similarly, the Grade classification is also listed, based on the requirements listed in the HPMS, chapter 4, item 45. Bo
th the curve class and the grade class have values of A through F. Learn More
Chevron requirementsThe 2009 MUTCD, table 2C-5, changes the speed differential for when a chevron is option, recommended or required. The summary report now breaks out the chevron spacing and now includes the requirements according these updated specifications. These changes are also reflected on the printed PDF report as well.   Learn More
RDS7-GPS-PRO Calibration Verification Tool -You can now verify the calibration of the RDS7-GPS-PRO inclinometer and store the results as part of the report records. (Note: Any calibration verification of a device that passes at any time subsequent to collecting data, is sufficient to verify the accuracy of all prior data collection. However, it is recommended to verify the calibration before a data collection session to avoid the uncertainty of starting with a non-verified unit). Using the CARS Calibration plate, supplied separately, navigate to the Administration page from the tablet. (You may need to update to the latest version, found on the General Tab). While on the Calibration tab, with the device connected to the tablet, record the limits of each direction provided by the calibrated stops. See the updated CARS manual for detailed directions on performing and recording calibration verification. The results will be displayed and uploaded with your next connection to the CARS portal. You will see the results on the Data Session detail portion of the report. This table is now on both web and printed PDF reports. You can suppress the inclusion of this table in Settings. A warning will appear on the summary for any passes conducted prior to a successful verification record being saved  Learn More
Curvilinear Reference to the Curve You now have the ability to replace the X-Y coordinates used to describe the individual data points and use the curvilinear distance from the PC as the reference for all the data points.
This feature is available by changing the "Detail Data Options - Data point Location Units" option in Settings. Select Curvilinear distance. If your Mile Marker data is loaded, the reference will also include the DMR distance to each point as it relates to mile post.
