Important Announcement from the Wardens
|
We are very pleased to announce that the Vestry has issued a call to the Rev. Robert J. Hendrickson III to be the next Rector of St. Philip's In The Hills Episcopal Church. This call is the culmination of many months of work on the part of the Search Committee assessing the gifts and skills of prospective candidates, and discerning work on the part of the Vestry as we met with the finalist candidates. We are even more pleased that Fr. Hendrickson has accepted the call and will begin serving at St. Philip's on August 1, 2016. His first celebration of the Eucharist will be on August 7, and he will preach at the services on August 14.
Fr. Hendrickson comes to St. Philip's after serving for three years as the Sub-Dean and Acting Dean of Saint John's Cathedral in Denver. Prior to that, he served as Curate and Missioner at Christ Church, New Haven, CT, and St. Hilda's House in New Haven from 2006 to 2013. He is the author of a highly regarded book -- Yearning: Young Adults, Mission, and the Church (which will soon be available in the Little Shop) -- and is working on two other books. Before his call to the Ministry, Robert was Corporate Communications Director for Brooks Brothers in New York City.
Fr. Hendrickson holds the Master of Divinity (with Honors) from The General Theological Seminary (2009); BA (with Honors) University of Mississippi, Croft Institute for International Studies with a focus on East Asian Peace and Security. He also completed an intensive Chinese Language Program at Cornell University and an intensive Chinese History and language program at Beijing Foreign Studies University.
Robert is married to Dr. Karrie Cummings Hendrickson (Ph.D. in Nursing from Yale) and they have two boys, Nikolas, age 5, and Brayden, age 2.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Interim Rector and Search Consultant, the Rev. Canon Frank H. Clark, to the Search Committee, and to the Vestry for their hard work and commitment that led to this call.
We look forward with joy to this next stage in the journey of St. Philip's doing God's work in the world, and invite you to join us in welcoming the Rev. Robert Hendrickson and his family to St. Philip's.
With gratitude for our many blessings,
Alison Lee, Senior Warden Herb Burton, Junior Warden
