Tom Cockrell, Director of the UA Opera Theatre, will conduct performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Staff singer Larry Alexander plays the role of the traveling medicine man and huckster, Dr. Dulcamara, for each performance, and staff singer Bryce Tomlin plays the romantic lead (he's a tenor after all), Nemorino, on Thursday and Saturday. Written in the bel canto style, this opera is all about showing off the beauty of the human voice, so every character has a beautiful tune to sing, including the moving tenor aria "Una furtiva lagrima," which is sung in the second act. Sound Tech Squad
Ever wonder what it is like to be a part of a super hero team? Well we do not have one, but we do have the next best thing, the Sound Tech Squad. The Sound Tech Squad is a new group forming at St. Philip's to help make the worship experience at St. Philip's the best that it can be. Specifically The Squad will be working to get the most out of our sound/audio equipment during worship. If you are interested in joining the Squad, playing with sound equipment, or finding out more, contact Stuart Salvatierra.
Food Pantry Seeks Team Members "For I was hungry and you gave me food."(Matthew 25:35) Come be part of the Food Pantry Team and help ensure that the hungry who come to our church for help get fed! We particularly need help during the May through September timeframe as our winter member volunteers depart for cooler climes. The Pantry is open Tuesday morning, Wednesday afternoon, and Thursday morning for 3 hours each day. If you have any time this summer, please join us! Contact Nancy Atherton or call 269-0699. Thanks!
J2A Needs Your Good Stuff The J2A Youth Group will be holding a rummage sale on Saturday, April 23, from 7 a.m. till 1 p.m. to raise money for their Pilgrimage. Time Running Out for the Ministry Endowment Fund Matching Grant As you probably know, an anonymous donor has offered to match $50,000 in gifts until May of 2016 to support Ministry Endowment. Donations for the Ministry Endowment Fund have continued to arrive since the last update. The amount contributed toward our challenge grant is now $13,445. Please consider making a donation to the Ministry Endowment Fund; your dollars will be doubled! We still have a ways to go toward the $50,000 challenge grant.
To make a donation or for more information, you may contact Sally Larsen at 577-6156 or Lois Britton, Parish Administrator at 299-6421, ext. 39.
Laundry Love The Laundry Love ministry invites parishioners to volunteer and experience an opportunity to directly touch the lives of others. Laundry Love takes place on the second Wednesday of each month. Members of our Come and See community have partnered with the national Laundry Love initiative to lead this ministry, which provides quarters, laundry soap, and dryer sheets to help wash the clothes of individuals and/or families living in poverty while offering compassion, conversation, and connections with community resources. The Laundry Love ministry welcomes you to join us. To volunteer, contact Patty. To make a financial donation, make your check payable to St. Philip's ("Laundry Love" on the memo line). "...whatever you do for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
Altar Guild Welcomes You! St. Philip's Altar Guild would be pleased to welcome new members. We consider ourselves the liturgical partner of the priest, caring for the objects used in worship and the worship space. We are part of an unbroken tradition reaching back to the time when Jesus was alive. Service in the Altar Guild is an educational and spiritual exercise and richly rewarding in our sense of community and care for each other. All - men or women, young or old - may have a vocation for Altar Guild service. We have work days on Saturdays as well as weekdays. New members receive hands-on training and mentoring from experienced members. For more information, please contact Directress Pam Henderson.
