Sunday, April 6

Louis Vierne On Sunday, April 6,  Louis Vierne's Messe Solennelle (Solemn Mass) will be First Sunday Music at the 9 and 11:15 a.m. services. Woosug Kang directs the combined forces of St. Philip's Adult Choirs, together with Dr. Jeffrey Campbell at the organ and members of the Arizona Brass Quintet. The service concludes with the mighty Tu es Petrus by Charles-Marie Widor. The opening voluntary for the service will be the first movement of Widor's Symphony No. 6, performed by Woosug Kang on organ; therefore, attendees should plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before the service start time.

In conjunction with First Sunday Music, the First Sunday "Food for Hunger" Food Drive takes place all morning in the Fishpond Garden. Food offerings are used to replenish our Food Pantry to help our neighbors in need. Also, please bring any new/used paperback books, on any subject. St. Philip's Prison Ministry will take them to Reading Between the Bars of Tucson, who will send them to prisoners in Arizona. Also, "Just Coffee" is offered for sale on the first Sunday of each month ($10/lb, beans or ground). This fair-trade coffee supports a cooperative of coffee growers in Mexico.

prison Prison Ministry
The Prison Ministry will meet on Wednesday, April 2, at 4:30 p.m. in La Paz. They will be joined by Nancy Jones, Director of Development from Old Pueblo Community Services. In December a Sunday forum was held where we learned of the many needs of those who are post-release from prison and their families. We will discuss with Nancy how we, as a faith community, can help our brothers and sisters who are in need. Please join us as we respond to the call (Matthew 25: 36): "I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me."

Green Team (a.k.a. Creation Care)
St. Philip's Green Team has changed their name to Creation Care. They will be meeting on Thursday, April 3, at 4 p.m. in La Paz to work on framing a resolution addressing global climate change to be presented at the Diocesan Convention in October. Operation Streamline

BIM logo St. Philip's parishioners are invited to join the Border and Immigration Ministry to witness Operation Streamline, the "fast track" legal process created for the purpose of deporting undocumented migrants. Operation Streamline has recently received national scrutiny from advocacy groups for lack of legal due process and possible human rights violations against the defendants, including the use of shackles. You can stand in solidary with our brothers and sisters who are our neighbors by witnessing this court proceeding. We will attend Operation Streamline on Wednesday, April 9, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Bring an official photo ID; you will go through a metal detector and a security check. Cameras or any other form of electronic capturing, recording, broadcasting or transmitting devices are prohibited in the courtroom. Doors to the courtroom are usually locked until about 1:30, at which time observers can enter. The procedure will last 90 minutes to 3 hours. If you need to leave the courtroom before the proceeding is concluded you will not be permitted to re-enter. Citizen observers are almost always in attendance. You can join a carpool leaving St. Philip's at 12:30 p.m. To reserve space in the carpool and for more information, contact Bonnie or Suzanne, BorderImmigrationMin@stphilipstucson.org.

This conference is ideal for anyone wishing to be better informed about mental illness and how to offer compassionate support for individuals and loved ones affected by mental illness.
