If you are interested in joining us this year please contact Geri Smith or call 744-3230. A training session has been scheduled for Sunday, February 23, at 12:30 p.m. in Room 10. Friends of Music Concert: Tra Fratelli
On Sunday, February 23, at 2 p.m. in the Church, Friends of Music presents Tra Fratelli. Tra Fratelli ("Among Brothers") is an exemplary demonstration of music's ability to transcend borders and unite people in their love of singing. The brainchild of University of Arizona Voice Professor Grayson Hirst, this operatic pop group features four young tenors from all over North America: Humberto Borboa, Brandon Dale, Bryce Rodriguez, and Edgar Ricaud. Each has operatic training and experience, but also an appreciation for the lighter side of classical singing-the music with which artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Il Divo, and even The Three Tenors have been delighting and enchanting audiences over the past few decades. Admission is by donation ($15 suggested). "Concerts on the Corner" Presents St. Philip's Canterbury Choir Concerts On The Corner, presented by St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, features St. Philip's Canterbury Choir in a program of Chamber Choir Treasures at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 23. This 24-voice professional-caliber ensemble has a repertoire which spans the history of Western music and is unique among church choirs in our region. They will present choral works from England and Germany from composers of the Romantic Era, including Charles Wood, Charles Stanford, Herbert Howells, as well as J.S. Bach's magnificent cantata, "Jesu Meine Freude." Admission to the concert, held at St. Andrew's Episcopal, 545 South Fifth Avenue, at the corner of 16th Street, is by donation ($15 suggested). Information: ConcertsOnTheCorner@gmail.com, or call 490-1817.

Write-a-Will Workshop
Join us for a Write-a-Will Workshop in the East Gallery on Monday, March 3, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Co-sponsored by St. Philip's Legacy Society and Eldercare Ministry and Episcopal Community Services in Arizona, the workshop is free and open to all. Elizabeth Spilotro, an estate planning attorney with Karp & Weiss, will be the presenter. Workbook provided. One of the greatest burdens to a family is the economic chaos created by someone's death. Having an up-to-date will can alleviate that burden. The workshop offers a forum for understanding the importance of having a will, legal aspects of the will and giving opportunities through a will. RSVP to John Waszczak. ASMP Evening Prayer
The St. Philips After School Music Program invites you to worship with us at Evening Prayer this Tuesday, February 25, at 5:30 in the Church. The children from ASMP will read the lesson, the prayers and their choir will sing. Please join us to support these wonderful children. Questions call Barby 237-8881.

United Thank Offering In-Gathering The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a program of the Church which was started by the women of the Church in 1883 and is rooted in the concept of daily prayer and thankfulness. It provides a way for men, women and families to express their thankfulness for God's blessings in a tangible way. Blue boxes are available for a daily offering of gratitude throughout the year and envelopes are provided for Ingathering Sunday, March 2. These UTO offerings go to support the mission of the Church throughout the world and to meet compelling human needs. This offering is a great way for individuals and families to reflect on their thankfulness and support people in need around the world. It provides a direct link between our parish church and the worldwide Anglican Communion. J2A Rummage Sale The J2A Youth Group will be holding a rummage sale on Saturday, March 8 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. to raise money for their Pilgrimage. We would greatly appreciate your gently used rummage sale donations. You can drop off items in the Palo Verde Room in La Parroquia on Sundays between 8 and 11 a.m. (Due to limited storage, please call if you have large furniture.) Contact Hope Goldsmith or call 661-1076 with any questions. Thanks! PCIC Fundraising Concert
St. Philip's choir members are participating in a fundraising concert for Pima County Interfaith Council, "Raising Voices for Young Leaders," Sunday, March 9, 4-6 p.m. at Catalina United Methodist Church. This benefit is part of a fundraising campaign to develop the next generation of community leaders. In addition to the St. Philip's group, three other groups with different multicultural styles will perform. The suggested ticket price is $20; you can also become a concert sponsor or send in a donation. For tickets or additional information contact Rev. Leah Sandwell-Weiss. WANT TO PARTICIPATE? Even if you are not in the choir you are welcome to sing with us (one rehearsal) -- contact Woosug Kang. TIHAN Poz Cafe St Philip's is once again co-hosting the Poz Cafe, a monthly luncheon for people living with HIV/AIDS sponsored by Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network. We are seeking volunteers for the March 20 luncheon, at St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church at River and Swan. We are also seeking donations of money and personal items, such as paper towels, toilet tissue, bar soap, shampoo, and other items found on the TIHAN web site (www.tihan.org, click on "donate" and scroll down to "Poz Cafe Wish List"). A meeting will be held in February with details. For further details or to volunteer contact the Rev. Ralph Taylor. Contribute to Rite 13 "Wisdom Book" What do you wish someone had told you when you turned 13 years old? Do you have wisdom to share with our 13 year old St. Philippians? As our young parishioners prepare for their Rite 13 ceremony on March 16, the Youth Leaders are gathering words of wisdom from the congregation to compile into a "Wisdom Book" which will be given to these teens to reference for years to come. Please see the information table in the Perry Garden to pick up your wisdom worksheet before March 2. For more information or to turn in your words of wisdom, please contact our youth minister, Sara Talley.

11:15 Services During Lent At the 11:15 a.m. worship services during Lent, beginning on Lent II, our liturgy will be inspired by the ancient Sarum Rite of Anglican tradition. The Sarum Rite was the liturgical form used in most of the English Church prior to the introduction of the first Book of Common Prayer in 1549. In keeping with the time period of the liturgical language, the Scripture readings will be taken from the King James Bible. Incense will be used at these services. These special services will draw from ancient prayer forms that will invite our prayer and reflection through this sacred season.
Lenten Retreat: Abiding in Christ Whether your thirst this Lent is to find true peace in Christ or to move more deeply into "the world," join us for a time apart in which we can listen together to God's Word: in prayer, in Scripture, in our lives. Our retreat, on Friday, March 21 (6-9 p.m.), and Saturday, March 22 (9 a.m.-3 p.m.), will interweave shared prayer, presentation from our retreat leaders, Wes Howard-Brook and Sue Ferguson Johnson, individual silence and small group sharing, sewn together with stories from the Gospel of John which have been used by the church during Lent since the early centuries of Christianity. Wherever you may be on your journey with God, we invite you to "Come and see!" $45 retreat fee includes materials and meals ($20 Friday evening only, $30 Saturday only). Scholarship assistance is available. Contact the Rev. Greg Foraker (greg.foraker@stphilipstucson.org) to register.
Lent Madness: A Slam Dunk Addition to Your Lenten Devotions Soon March Madness will be upon us. And much as we love the Wildcats, let's be serious: is there anything more ridiculous than the spectacle of grown men (and women) cheering, weeping, screaming, cursing, and otherwise abandoning their dignity for the sake of their favorite team? As a matter of fact, there is. How about pitting saints against each other in one-on-one elimination rounds as they vie for the coveted Golden Halo? Welcome to Lent Madness! Read more.
