New 2013 HIPAA Guidelines Training & Toolkit for Pediatric Pratices

Afternoon and Morning Programs Available

Wondering how you will implement the new HIPAA guidelines in your office?  With the issuance of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule Changes, all medical practices are faced with making wholesale revisions to their privacy policies and implementing brand new electronic security safety policies.  These new and amended requirements will substantially affect all HIPAA covered entities and business vendors.  Because of the comprehensive changes to HIPAA, practices will be required to revise their HIPAA policies, implement new electronic security changes and retrain all personnel.

Designed for small and medium-sized pediatric practices, this program will provide medical practitioners and business staff with the essential elements required to comply with the new rules.  The training will offer a full set of model policies that can be customized to your individual practice.  The presentation will also serve as a "train-the-trainer" program allowing attendees to provide the mandatory re-training to their office staff.

Specific topics will include:

  • Extensive changes to breach reporting requirements including replacement of the Harm Test
  • New penalties and enforcement framework
  • Vastly expanded privacy responsibilities for business associates, vendors and subcontractors
  • Changes to current forms including the Notice of Privacy Practices and Business Associate Agreements
  • New prohibitions on the sale of protected health information
  • New patient right to restrict information sent to insurers
  • New requirements for providing patients with electronic copies

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify the new HITECH changes to HIPAA that affect their care environments
  • Understand the new "breach" rule definitions
  • Address potential gaps in their current policies and procedures
  • Formulate an implementation plan for compliance
