 "Bob...Thanks for the Memories."

Thanksgiving Eve Service

Join Rev. Brandon and Rev. Jan for a very special Thanksgiving Eve candlelight and
communion service at 7 pm on November 25. It will be a time to celebrate all that we are
grateful for heading into the holiday season. During the evening we will honor our
connection to Spirit through sacred ritual, meditation and celebration of all the blessings
for which we give thanks. All are welcome to participate as we reframe the ritual of
communion to remind us of the sacred connection to God that is with us in every moment.

"Share the Joy" Christmas Outreach Project
The UCOP "Share the Joy" Project will begin with wish tag adoptions November 8, 15 and 22 with all gifts due back to the church by November 29. The Share the Joy project is a wonderful, rewarding way to find deeper meaning and purpose in the Christmas holiday. We will be providing gifts and Christmas cheer for children and adults through Hope Care Center, Kaw Valley Center, Cornerstones of Care, Community Living Opportunities/ Marty Lane House and our own UCOP family.   An outreach project of this size really does take a lot of energy, dedication and LOVE to be successful! If you would like to volunteer to help you can contact Volunteer Coordinator, Deb Filby at 649-1750 x3025 or dfilby@ucop.org.

Guest Speaker, November 22
Our guest speaker will draw upon her own experiences in seeking a spiritual path; overcoming the past and emotional barriers; the significance of small acts of love; walking through doors as spirit opens them; the need to minimize distractions; focusing in before focusing out; and how to take the truth of self and apply it externally.

Remya Meixner holds a BS in Education and an MA in Developmental Psychology. In 1989, when Remya was employed at a residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed children in Baltimore, she met Sri Mata Amritanandamayi (The Hugging Saint). Not long after this meeting, Remya found herself in India living as a Hindu Renunciate. She says "I needed the India experience to come face to face with my Ego.  My three years in India were spent burning as much ego as I could possible get out of my system. It was a painful process."   Since returning from India, Remya sees a common thread in all of her experiences. "It all comes down to moving through the world with love as the guiding principle."   She hopes in sharing her extreme spiritual journey in India that she can awaken something in others and be of help in some way.

Workshop following services from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.
Remya will be joined by Janalea Hoffman, music therapy consultant and spiritual seeker, for an experiential workshop to explore your personal spiritual path. Janalea won the Madonna Spirit award for her innovative work with music and medicine. Using the energy and inspiration from Remya's talk and incorporating different kinds of music to help each individual go deeper within, new insights are gained about your own personal spiritual path and how to proceed. Remya saw first hand many miracles occur in India and she brings her stories and the healing energy of Amma with her to UCOP.

Mata Amritanandamayi is known throughout the world as Amma, or Mother, for her selfless love and compassion toward all beings. Her entire life has been dedicated to alleviating the pain of the poor and those suffering physically and emotionally. Throughout her life, Mata Amritanandamayi has embraced and comforted more than 34 million people. Amma inspires, uplifts and transforms through her embrace, her spiritual wisdom and through her global charities, known as Embracing the World.® When asked where she gets the energy to help so many people, she answers: "Where there is true love, anything is effortless."
While Amma is widely regarded as one of India's foremost spiritual leaders, Amma says that her religion is love. She has never asked anyone to change their religion but only to contemplate the essential principles of their own faith and to try to live accordingly. Amma tours the U.S. each year to hug thousands of her followers.

In the Presence Meditation
This meditation provides the opportunity to go into a deep, deep experience of the Presence. Meditation does wonderful things to our human bodies, giving them time to revitalize and heal themselves. At the same time, our souls experience their real, true selves, going to the place inside that is timeless and eternal. After the meditation, there will be a sacred prayer circle to share and honor one another's prayer intentions. You'll experience such serenity you'll want it to go on forever.

Do You Shop on Amazon?

Many of us do our shopping these days from the comfort and convenience of our own homes using the Amazon marketplace.
Did you know that if you go to our website first, and then enter the Amazon site through our link, the church will then get a small percentage of that purchase?  It's like free money for the church!  And it doesn't have to be a spiritual book or something church-related either. We will get a small percentage of anything you purchase on Amazon, if you go through our site first on your way there. How cool is that?!  It doesn't cost you anything to help support your spiritual community because you were going to shop anyway, weren't you!  Now you can do it and help UCOP at the same time. Just click here and it will take you to the UCOP Amazon access page.  You can also find the Amazon access page from a link on our Homepage as well at www.ucop.org.

So happy shopping and thank you for your support!
We truly appreciate you.
