Palm Sunday
"Just One More Thing"

Reverend Brandon Nagel kicks off Holy Week with a
Palm Sunday message that explores how, just when we think our spiritual journey is reaching fruition,
Divine Spirit comes along and hits us with
"just one more thing" we need to go through
before we can fully experience the
resurrected Christ Presence within.

We will also enjoy the vocal talents of a new soloist!  Pancho Javier joins Fred Albers and our amazing UCOP Band.  Pancho is a Kansas City actor and singer who can be seen this summer at the Coterie Theatre in Crown Center.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Palm Sunday, March 29 at 9 & 11 am

     * Easter Egg Hunt for the kiddos on the front lawn after services

Good Friday, April 3 at 7 pm - Communion & Candlelight

Easter Sunday, April 5 at 9 & 11 am

Our journey to transformation reaches its conclusion with Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Join Rev. Brandon on Palm Sunday as we explore why and how, just as it seems that we have reached the full embodiment of our divine nature, we are hit with "Just One More Thing" to experience and grow us deeper before we are able to fully realize our true potential.

Then Reverends Brandon and Jan will be back for a very special evening on Good Friday, including the sacred ritual of communion and candle lighting, as we will continue to explore this idea of transformation and how, ultimately, we must each go through these experiences of transformation alone with only the presence of God to support us.

Finally, join our entire team for a joy-filled celebration of Easter as Reverends Bob and Brandon explore the spiritual qualities of Faith and Love and their role in our ability to see the resurrected Christ nature that each of us truly is.

Anne Tabor Returns to UCOP April 12!

Sunday, April 12 we welcome guest speaker, Anne Tabor, presenting a message entitled:

"Live Long and Prosper"

You don't have to be a Trekkie to appreciate the words of wisdom from the most popular half-Vulcan on the planet.  After all, that would be highly illogical! Thanks to Leonard Nimoy, his iconic Star Trek character, Mr. Spock, became one of the most human creations to ever grace the screen. Spock touched lives and spoke simple spiritual lessons that encourage us all to look at life from a different perspective. Join Anne Tabor for a message celebrating the deeper meaning behind classic "Spockisms" and how they can inspire you to boldly go where you've never gone before. LLAP

Fillmores on Healing & Wholeness-Part 2

This is the second part of the course titled "Myrtle and Charles Fillmore on Healing and Wholeness." The whole course is based on the spiritual laws and universal principles that support the expression of health and wholeness in our minds, bodies and affairs. We will be working with Myrtle and Charles Fillmore's interpretation of how Jesus used and demonstrated those spiritual laws and principles in his own life. The purpose of the course is to support participants in developing a practical understanding of Myrtle and Charles' theology as heart-centered metaphysicians. It is our expectation participants will be inspired to become heart-centered metaphysicians themselves. We also expect them to expand their "tool kit" for using healing principles in their daily lives and in supporting other people in their own healing process.

In this class you will know your Divine Identity, learn affirmative prayer, reform your language, develop or enhance your daily prayer practice and embrace Wholeness. Rosie Dominguez knew she'd found home the first day she walked into UCOP in 2009. The minister's words that day deeply resonated with her. She was thrilled to finally find a spiritual home with like-minded individuals. She challenged herself to learn the Unity teachings and understand the Principles at a profound level. She has attended numerous classes, workshops and retreats at UCOP and Unity Institute. She has served as a Fall Faith circle facilitator, Core Values Team member and is currently on the Small Group Support Team. She has a passion for sharing what she learns and therefore enjoys facilitating classes at UCOP. Rosie's journey has led her to understand prayer in a completely different manner. She grew up in a traditional church, which she practiced up until the week before walking into UCOP. Rosie is currently serving her third year as a prayer chaplain. Affirmative prayer has transformed her life and played a significant role in her awakening. Rosie has been married for 24 years with two grown children. She attributes being a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and all around person to affirmative prayer and the understanding, through prayer, of the Christ in her.
I AM ENOUGH

Join us as we explore Brene Brown's 10 Guideposts based on her book,

The Gifts of Imperfection and her Oprah Life Class. Each week we will uncover new ways of letting go of thoughts such as the need to be right, worrying about what others think and the "shoulds" of daily life. We'll refocus on consciously cultivating authenticity, self-compassion, a resilient spirit, gratitude and joy, intuition and faith and meaningful work. We will venture into your creative spirit as we sing, dance and play using various art supplies (paints, stickers, stamping, glitter, your photos and much more). You will create your own six weeks of Rainbow Reminders that

I AM ENOUGH as we delve into and discuss questions like:

*           Who has earned the right to hear my story?

*           How can I give myself permission to be imperfect?

*           What's the most courageous thing I can do for myself when I feel small and hurt?

*           What is holding me back from __?

*           And many more!

Come and try the first week. You will discover your soul urging you to return.

Spiritual Improv Playshop

April 19 is Y.O.U. Sunday with guest speaker, Ned Kelley. Following services that day, Ned will present a unique playshop in which New Thought principles come alive through improv games and exercises. The art of listening and "Yes-And" - these are the primary skills of improvisational acting. By playing the fun and simple games which improvisers use to hone their skills you will expand your mastery and application of mindfulness, equanimity, imagination and co-creativity! Ned's goal is not to teach you proper acting techniques and he is not going to ask you to get up and perform in front of other people. We are not even going to try to be funny. Ned's desire is for us to journey from the head to the heart, to explore our spiritual practices and to play together!

In the Presence Meditation
This meditation provides the opportunity to go into a deep, deep experience of the Presence. Meditation does wonderful things to our human bodies, giving them time to revitalize and heal themselves. At the same time, our souls experience their real, true selves, going to the place inside that is timeless and eternal. After the meditation, there will be a sacred prayer circle to share and honor one another's prayer intentions. You'll experience such serenity you'll want it to go on forever.

Environmental Fast Fact of the Week

Brought to you by your Green Team!

Scientists have concluded that when the amount of carbon in the atmosphere exceeds 350 parts per million, the effects of global warming result in rampant melting of arctic ice, drought spreading across the planet and rampant increases in diseases like dengue fever and malaria occurring in places where they've never been seen before. The bad news is that we've exceeded 400 parts per million.

Each week between now and April 5th, the Green Team will offer 10 "Environmental Fast Facts" highlighting something you can do to become a better steward of the earth as well as the average reduction in pounds of CO2 emissions each household will realize.

This Week:

What you can do:  Plant a tree.

Average reduction of CO2 emissions: 1,600 pounds per year.

Why: Trees can reduce air conditioning needs by 30-50% and can save 20-50% in energy used for heating. They provide excellent protection from summer sun by shading roof, walls and windows.  Deciduous trees permit winter sunlight to reach and warm the house in the winter, increase property value while cleaning the air and improving water quality.

How:    Consider a tree's future size, shape, overall appearance, foliage texture and density, flowers, fruits and fall coloration.

Do You Shop on Amazon?

Many of us do our shopping these days from the comfort and convenience of our own homes using the Amazon marketplace.
Did you know that if you go to our website first, and then enter the Amazon site through our link, the church will then get a small percentage of that purchase?  It's like free money for the church!  And it doesn't have to be a spiritual book or something church-related either. We will get a small percentage of anything you purchase on Amazon, if you go through our site first on your way there. How cool is that?!  It doesn't cost you anything to help support your spiritual community because you were going to shop anyway, weren't you!  Now you can do it and help UCOP at the same time. Just click here and it will take you to the UCOP Amazon access page.  You can also find the Amazon access page from a link on our Homepage as well at www.ucop.org.

So happy shopping and thank you for your support!
We truly appreciate you.
