Fall Faith 2014 -Week Six
"
Living Under the Influence"

This Sunday we conclude our Fall Faith exploration
of Eric Butterworth's book, Spiritual Economics.
We will have the opportunity to commit ourselves to the practice of living in the flow of giving
, thus affecting a positive change in the vibrational energy of our lives and within our community and the world.

And we have a rare treat in that three amazing soloists will be sharing the platform together with Fred Albers and the UCOP Band! Willis White decided to stick around Kansas City a day longer just because he loves singing at UCOP so much!  And he will be joined by the always inspiring
Molly Hammer and Kelly Potter!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Our 1st Candidate Weekend - November 16

Our first candidate for the position of Lead Minister

at Unity Church of Overland Park

is Rev. Nancy Oristaglio.

Sunday morning, November 16, Rev. Nancy will present the meditation and lesson for that day.  Following the 11:00 service, there will be a congregational potluck.  Everyone is invited to bring a yummy potluck dish to share and once everyone has gotten their food and has settled into their seats, we will begin

Q & A/Meet & Greet session with the candidate.  Congregants may get to know her better and ask her questions. Then everyone will have an opportunity to fill out a congregational evaluation form giving their impressions and opinions of Rev. Nancy throughout the Sunday events.  This form will be available in printed form or online to fill out.  Our board will review all the evaluation forms from congregants and take that feedback into consideration as they continue to discern who is most qualified to lead this spiritual community in the direction we've determined that we would like to go.

Rev. Nancy J. Oristaglio has served for ten years as the Sr. Minister of Unity Church of Antelope Valley in Palmdale, California. (www.unityav.org) From 2006-2013, she served as the elected Regional Representative of all the churches of the Southwest Region of Unity Worldwide Ministries. She also served as a member of the National Standards Ministry Team of UWM. In 2009, she was chosen as one of five candidates selected internationally for the Unity Worldwide Ministries Board of Trustees. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Unity Alhambra Foundation in   Alhambra, California from 2007 to the present. She is also a member of the Licensing and Ordination Team of Unity Worldwide Ministries. In June, 2014, her ministry received a large Google Adwords Grant for the online audio meditation series she wrote and recorded. Her meditation series, "Your 12 Powers," contains fourteen articles and audio meditations based on The 12 Powers, the book written by Charles Fillmore. The meditation series is a free course on the church website and has been visited by thousands of people from all around the world. She also writes a column for the Religion page of the Antelope Valley Press.

"Change For Change" Rides Again!

With two ministerial candidates coming from out of town very soon for their candidate try-out weekends, we have pulled out the old "Change for Change" bowl once again.

You may recall that last year, after we had collected the "Change for Change" funds and selected a new senior minister without having to use them, we asked you all to vote on how you would like those funds used. And you voted for a Guest Speaker Fund. So, thanks to your generosity last year, those funds were used to bring 15 guest speakers in this year!

And now we need your help again to fund the costs of bringing these new candidates to town. So we invite you to save your spare change in one of our nifty "Change for Change" cups (available in the lobby) and then bring that change in to deposit in the bowl on Sundays. Our new giving kiosk also has a button for you to select the "Change for Change" program if you'd prefer to donate that way. You may also give online here. And if you would like to cover the cost of a specific item, such as the cost of one plane ticket, or one lunch, or one nights' hotel stay, you may do so by speaking to the board member standing by the "Change for Change" bowl on Sunday.   We are so grateful for your support in this exciting time!

Wednesday Evening, November 26 at 7 pm

with Rev. Brandon Nagel & Rev. Jan Stromseth

Join Rev. Brandon Nagel and Rev. Jan Stromseth for a very special Thanksgiving Eve candlelight and communion service at 7 pm on November 26. It will be a time to celebrate all that we are grateful for heading into the holiday season. During the evening we will honor our connection to Spirit through sacred ritual, meditation and celebration of all the blessings for which we give thanks. All are welcome to participate as we reframe the ritual of communion to remind us of the sacred connection to God that is with us in every moment.

Angels Among Us with Stephanie Barton

Join Steffany as she delivers messages from departed loved ones. The connections made to those in Spirit are sometimes surprising, often delighting and always for good. Angels ARE among us. Experience their love. Tickets are $20 and available at the door.  Or visit www.angelsinsight.com for more information or purchase advance tickets.
Women to Women Circle - November 6

Please join the Women In Unity in the peace chapel tonight, November 6th from 7-9pm.

Tonight, Jeannie Guillot, owner of Your Dream Stream, has designed a unique program just for us, which she will facilitate.  Just in time to get us ready for the holidays, she will show us how to enjoy the "double-sided blessing" of personal gifting, that is, the expansive pleasure of receiving 4-fold every time you are also gifting others in a special way!  It's a very interactive, experiential, and fun program, as we each unveil some of our own primary personal gifts, and then creatively plan ways we can incorporate our gifts into the spirit of the holidays.  You will leave with a declaration of your gifts, the experience of a few of the joys they bring, and a personal start-up plan for how to continue your blessings in action.

"Share the Joy" Christmas Outreach

The UCOP "Share the Joy" Christmas Outreach Program will begin on Sunday, November 9 with a meeting at 12:30 in harmony hall to fill out wish tags for the four agencies we will be serving this year. Feel free to stop by the table and pitch in with this fun preparatory event!
Wish tag adoptions will be held November 16, 23 and 30 with all gifts due back to the church by December 7. The Share the Joy project is a wonderful, rewarding way to find deeper meaning and purpose in the Christmas holiday. We will be providing gifts and Christmas cheer for 165 children and adults through Hope Care Center, KVC, Cornerstones of Care, Community Living Opportunities/Marty Lane House and our own U.C.O.P. family.   An outreach project of this size really does take a lot of energy, dedication and LOVE to be successful! If you would like to volunteer to help you can contact Marcianne Wagner-Heaton at (913) 851-8848 or marciannejwh@aol.com.

In the Presence Meditation

This meditation provides the opportunity to go into a deep, deep experience of the Presence. Meditation does wonderful things to our human bodies, giving them time to revitalize and heal themselves. At the same time, our souls experience their real, true selves, going to the place inside that is timeless and eternal. After the meditation, there will be a sacred prayer circle to share and honor one another's prayer intentions. You'll experience such serenity you'll want it to go on forever.

New YFM Curriculum for the Fall
Youth and Family Ministry has enjoyed a new Sunday curriculum this Fall! Our "Fall Fables & Fairy Tales" series concludes this Sunday. Fairy tales and fables, like other wisdom stories, contain deep messages on how to live an empowered life. This knowledge will provide our children with a road map through life. Fairy tales help children learn that through these challenges or frightening experiences, all can be overcome and they are not powerless.

The Ant and the Chrysalis

Do You Shop on Amazon?

Many of us do our shopping these days from the comfort and convenience of our own homes using the Amazon marketplace. Did you know that if you go to our website first, and then enter the Amazon site through our link, the church will then get a small percentage of that purchase?  It's like free money for the church!  And it doesn't have to be a spiritual book or something church-related either. We will get a small percentage of anything you purchase on Amazon, if you go through our site first on your way there. How cool is that?!  It doesn't cost you anything to help support your spiritual community because you were going to shop anyway, weren't you!  Now you can do it and help UCOP at the same time. Just click here and it will take you to the UCOP Amazon access page.  You can also find the Amazon access page from a link on our Homepage as well at www.ucop.org.   So happy shopping and thank you for your support!  We truly appreciate you.

Couples Sunday Brunch Cancelled This Month

Nancy Oristaglio, a bit better.
