2014... the Year of "I AM"
The words "I AM" are a holy expression for the name of God - the highest aspect of yourself. This year, we explore the highest possibility for our lives by choosing a quality each month to focus on and express. In every moment know that you are the living expression of the Christ!

This year we invite you to consider empowering your life
with the following affirmations:

"I AM"...
Boundless... Real... Courageous... Aware... Curious... Adventurous... Lighthearted...Outrageous... Limitless... Connected... and Sacred

In the month of September, let us affirm together:

Small Group Ministry Webpage

In recent weeks you've been hearing about new small groups forming.  There is now a brand new page on our UCOP website where you can view all the latest information on our new small group ministry.  Learn what groups have formed and how to get involved with them.  See the videos of the launch leaders' Sunday platform shares.  Learn what steps you can take if you're interested in forming a new small group yourself.  You can find the Small Group Ministry page under the "Get Involved" tab of our website homepage at www.ucop.org.  Or, you can...

World Day of Prayer
Thousands of people will join Silent Unity and Unity churches around the world on September 11 for the 21st annual Unity World Day of Prayer. The theme of this 24-hour prayer event is "We Are the Light of the World: Let Your Light Shine!"  World Day of Prayer gives us an opportunity to come together in celebration of our oneness with God, each other and our world.  Through prayer we foster peace and wholeness in our community and in our individual lives.  The 24-hour prayer vigil will begin the evening of Wednesday, September 10 with opening ceremonies featuring keynote speaker, best-selling author and poet, Mark Nepo.  Names may be submitted for prayer online at www.worlddayofprayer.org. The 24-hour prayer vigil traditionally begins with a beautiful candlelight walk across the central courtyard of Unity Village. This year, for the first time, we will symbolize the power of our united prayers by asking people everywhere to light a virtual candle at www.worlddayofprayer.org. These virtual candles will be displayed as points of light on a global map.  Further information about all the events surrounding World Day of Prayer can be found at the above website, or in Spanish at www.diadeoracionmundial.org

"Visioning 2.0 - Being and Becoming All We Are Created To Be"

Register Here!

"Visioning is by far the most important and helpful spiritual practice I have discovered in my 25 years of ministry!" - Rev Mary Omwake

Based on Rev. Michael Beckwith's landmark process, visioning combines Unity's two basic prayer practices (silence and affirmative prayer) in a manner that facilitates maximum authentic spiritual growth, development and unfoldment. Visioning puts us on the front end of change and provides direction and focus. It supports us in what we say "Yes" to and when to say "No." Catching God's vision aligns our energy and unleashes our God given potential to live a life of joy and fulfillment.

*           Stages of Spirit - Essential aspects include:

*           Growth, Development, & Unfoldment

*           Essential Aspects

*           Love

*           Deep Listening

*           Asking Rightly

*           Embodiment of the Divine

*           Releasing All That No Longer Serves

*           Gifts

*           Willingness

*           Gratitude, Appreciation, and Praise

"The way is not in the sky. The way is in the heart." - Buddha

Metta, or Loving Kindness Meditation, is an ancient practice first introduced by Siddhartha Gautama over 2500 years ago as an antidote to fear. Simple to learn and easy to practice, Loving Kindness Meditation has the power to help us remember our loveliness and live in harmony and peace at all times with all people. The practice, described by the Buddha as a means to liberate the heart, encourages us to cultivate love, compassion, joy and equanimity. Join us for a quiet, peaceful 2-hour meditation experience that will continuously increase in sweetness and facilitate deeper levels of understanding.

New YFM Curriculum for the Fall
Youth and Family Ministry is starting a brand new Sunday curriculum this Fall! Our "Fall Fables & Fairy Tales" series starts Sunday,September 7th and runs through November 11th. Fairy tales and fables, like other wisdom stories, contain deep messages on how to live an empowered life. This knowledge will provide our children with a road map through life. Fairy tales help children learn that through these challenges or frightening experiences, all can be overcome and they are not powerless.

Fillmore Healing Class Available

Join us as we explore the spiritual principles that support the expression of health and wholeness in our minds, bodies and affairs. We will be working with Myrtle and Charles Fillmore's interpretation of how Jesus used and demonstrated those principles in his own life. Such principles will be presented to support participants in developing a practical understanding of Myrtle and Charles' theology as heart-centered metaphysicians. The goal will be that through the development of such practical understanding, participants will be inspired to also become heart-centered metaphysicians in their own lives. We also expect them to develop a "tool kit" for using healing principles in their daily lives and in supporting other people in their own healing process.

Men's Group Breakfast Saturday, September 6

Men's Group Breakfast - Saturday, September 6

from 8 to 10 am in harmony hall, with Cathy Combs.

Cathy says, "My basic premise has always been that we are Spirit Incarnate. I didn't always have that wording but I've always had that knowing and writing my books has made that knowing crystal clear and I'm so very grateful. I have always been connected with a quiet calm and confidence that I consider the hallmarks of my life. I have always known that we are innately good and that knowing is an immeasurable blessing. These knowings are the hallmarks of all I do as I continue to share my messages with a world I love so very much.

In the Presence Meditation

This meditation provides the opportunity to go into a deep, deep experience of the Presence. Meditation does wonderful things to our human bodies, giving them time to revitalize and heal themselves. At the same time, our souls experience their real, true selves, going to the place inside that is timeless and eternal. After the meditation, there will be a sacred prayer circle to share and honor one another's prayer intentions. You'll experience such serenity you'll want it to go on forever.

Women in Unity Meeting - September 20

As we move into the Fall season, we will want to resonate with the positive qualities of that season - reaping the benefits of the harvest planted in the other seasons. Positive qualities of this season include nurturance, acceptance, groundedness and abundance. When we resonate with these qualities and not our problems, we live our lives with greater joy and happiness. When we are out of sync with this element we may find ourselves expressing and living from a negative state of mind and missing out on the abundance of what is there for us. Resonance Repatterning is a system that will allow us to realign ourselves so we can fully enjoy the positive qualities of this Fall season.

Shirley Collins, LSCSW, a member of Unity Church for over 15 years, will be offering Seasonal Repatterning for the Unity Women's Group on Saturday, September 20.   It will be in her home with a potluck luncheon immediately following the group repatterning. The address is 10608 Bluejacket Street, Overland Park, KS 66214. The house is located just south of 103rd St. & Nieman Rd.   If you have questions or need clarification on directions, call Shirley at (913) 341-2704. womeninunitygroup@gmail.com
UCOP & You - September 22

This class has been designed for those who are newer to Unity and/or Unity Church of Overland Park. The materials presented will offer the history of Unity and UCOP. In addition, participants will learn about various ministry staff members and their individual roles and responsibilities at the church. Participants will be provided information pertaining to volunteer teams, outreach programs and affinity groups. The class will offer opportunities for attendees to uncover and begin offering their gifts through stepping into service for the ministry in some way. As with all classes, participants will begin to build relationships and community with one another.

Do You Shop on Amazon?

Many of us do our shopping these days from the comfort and convenience of our own homes using the Amazon marketplace. Did you know that if you go to our website first, and then enter the Amazon site through our link, the church will then get a small percentage of that purchase?  It's like free money for the church!  And it doesn't have to be a spiritual book or something church-related either. We will get a small percentage of anything you purchase on Amazon, if you go through our site first on your way there. How cool is that?!  It doesn't cost you anything to help support your spiritual community because you were going to shop anyway, weren't you!  Now you can do it and help UCOP at the same time. Just click here and it will take you to the UCOP Amazon access page.  You can also find the Amazon access page from a link on our Homepage as well at www.ucop.org.   So happy shopping and thank you for your support!  We truly appreciate you.
