"The Secret of Permanent Prosperity"

Edwene Gaines, author of the book The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity, will be speaking this Sunday on the subject of her very popular book. Imagine if you could achieve a life of true prosperity, enjoying a vitally alive, healthy body through which you experience relationships that are always satisfying, intimate, honest and nurturing... work you love so much that it's not work, it's play...and all the money you can spend!  Living at this exceptional level is not only possible, it's right there for you,  if only you abide by the four spiritual laws of prosperity.

Edwene will also provide a workshop following services

in the sanctuary from 1:30-4:00 to further explore

these four spiritual principles of prosperity:

* Finding your Divine Purpose

* Forgiveness and Worthiness

* Tithing and Giving and

* Setting Clear-Cut Goals

Edwene Gaines is owner-director of Rock Ridge Retreat Center in Valley Head, Alabama.  She has made a 100% commitment to the transformation of the abundance consciousness of the world. An ordained Unity minister since 1979, she is also president of the Masters' School.  She has trained approximately 500 Master Prosperity Teachers. She travels about 250 days a year presenting prosperity & commitment workshops. She has created and markets CD's and affirmation cards through her company Prosperity Products. Her book is now available in Spanish as Las Cuatro Leyes de la Prosperidad.  Edwene has served as a member of the International New Thought Alliance Executive Board. In 2006 she was honored by the International New Thought Alliance with the Torchbearer for New Thought Award. That same year she was honored by the Association of Unity Churches International with the Light of God Expressing Award at their annual conference. She is committed to power, passion, prosperity and performance.

2014... the Year of "I AM"
The words "I AM" are a holy expression for the name of God - the highest aspect of yourself. This year, we explore the highest possibility for our lives by choosing a quality each month to focus on and express. In every moment know that you are the living expression of the Christ!

This year we invite you to consider empowering your life
with the following affirmations:

"I AM"...
Boundless... Real... Courageous... Aware... Curious... Adventurous... Lighthearted... Visionary... Limitless... Connected... and Sacred

In the month of August, let us affirm together:

Guest Speaker, Steffany Barton, August 24

Guest Speaker, Steffany Barton, will join us Sunday, August 24 to speak on her new book, "Soul Fire: Ignite Your Spirit's Greatness." In this innovative and inspiring book, Steffany outlines specific, practical and effective ways to ignite the greatness within each person by kindling the soul fire. The flames may sputter or smolder and sometimes go out. Yet nothing can ever extinguish the greatness of spirit, the light of love and the soul fire!  Steffany will also sign copies of her books after services in the lobby.

Guest Speaker, Rev. Dr. Tom Shepherd, August 31

Ready for a rootin'-tootin' Old Testament sermon from Unity Institute's always provocative theologian and historian, the Rev. Dr. Tom Shepherd?  If you attended Sunday school as a kid, you probably learned the Jonah story is about a reluctant missionary who tried to escape God's call and got swallowed by a whale. But the headline for this clearly mythological ancient tale ought to be much more  than "Runaway preacher thwarted by voracious marine mammal..." The Book of Jonah is about learning to forgive the unforgivable. At a time when the world is so polarized, it is a message humanity desperately needs to take seriously.  Join Rev. Dr. Tom Shepherd for his lesson entitled "Who Will Weep for Nineveh? A New Look at the Story of Jonah."

 Rev. Dr. Shepherd will also be available in the lobby after services to sign his book, "Glimpses of Truth."

The Rev. Dr. Shepherd is best known to Unity audiences as the author of the popular column "That's a Good Question," which has run for 15 consecutive years in Unity MagazineŽ.  A retired U.S. Army chaplain and decorated Vietnam veteran, Dr. Shepherd has been in ministry since 1976. His best-selling book, Friends in High Places, traces the family tree of New Thought Christianity. His recent books, Jesus 2.1 and Good Questions, are published by Unity Books.  He has also taught middle school for 10 years, run for public office in Georgia (and lost), driven a taxi in Idaho, flown helicopters in Southeast Asia and published two science fiction novels. Today "Dr. Tom" teaches historical and theological studies

to candidates for the Unity ministry at Unity InstituteŽ and Seminary. Like his

Unity Magazine column, his program "Let's Talk About It" is edgy, controversial

and full of lively, collegial exchanges.

World Day of Prayer
Thousands of people will join Silent Unity and Unity churches around the world on September 11 for the 21st annual Unity World Day of Prayer. The theme of this 24-hour prayer event is "We Are the Light of the World: Let Your Light Shine!"  World Day of Prayer gives us an opportunity to come together in celebration of our oneness with God, each other and our world.  Through prayer we foster peace and wholeness in our community and in our individual lives.  The 24-hour prayer vigil will begin the evening of Wednesday, September 10 with opening ceremonies featuring keynote speaker, best-selling author and poet, Mark Nepo.  Names may be submitted for prayer online at www.worlddayofprayer.org. The 24-hour prayer vigil traditionally begins with a beautiful candlelight walk across the central courtyard of Unity Village. This year, for the first time, we will symbolize the power of our united prayers by asking people everywhere to light a virtual candle at www.wordldayofprayer.org. These virtual candles will be displayed as points of light on a global map.  Further information about all the events surrounding World Day of Prayer can be found at the above website, or in Spanish at www.diadeoracionmundial.org

In the Presence Meditation

This meditation provides the opportunity to go into a deep, deep experience of the Presence. Meditation does wonderful things to our human bodies, giving them time to revitalize and heal themselves. At the same time, our souls experience their real, true selves, going to the place inside that is timeless and eternal. After the meditation, there will be a sacred prayer circle to share and honor one another's prayer intentions. You'll experience such serenity you'll want it to go on forever.

Do You Shop on Amazon?

Many of us do our shopping these days from the comfort and convenience of our own homes using the Amazon marketplace. Did you know that if you go to our website first, and then enter the Amazon site through our link, the church will then get a small percentage of that purchase?  It's like free money for the church!  And it doesn't have to be a spiritual book or something church-related either. We will get a small percentage of anything you purchase on Amazon, if you go through our site first on your way there. How cool is that?!  It doesn't cost you anything to help support your spiritual community because you were going to shop anyway, weren't you!  Now you can do it and help UCOP at the same time. Just click here and it will take you to the UCOP Amazon access page.  You can also find the Amazon access page from a link on our Homepage as well at www.ucop.org.   So happy shopping and thank you for your support!  We truly appreciate you.
