2014... the Year of "I AM"
The words "I AM" are a holy expression for the name of God - the highest aspect of yourself. This year, we explore the highest possibility for our lives by choosing a quality each month to focus on and express. In every moment know that you are the living expression of the Christ!

This year we invite you to consider empowering your life
with the following affirmations:

"I AM"...
Boundless... Real... Aware... Curious... Adventurous... Lighthearted... Outrageous... Visionary... Limitless... Connected... and Sacred

In the month of March, let us affirm together:

Midwest Unity Men's Retreat

We all grow older every year, chronologically for certain. But the years can also take a toll on our bodies as well as our mental and emotional makeup. The question is how can we make our journey through life one in which we grow in wholeness, not just in years or number of medical conditions or treatments. Dr. Fleming will present a holistic paradigm incorporating resources from various sources including the "Wheel of Health" and associated processes from Duke University Integrative Medicine (http://www.dukeintegrativemedicine.org/about-us/wheel-of-health) which help us place our own health care in the context of self care, determined not by outside factors but by priorities that we determine. Large group and small group meetings will facilitate this process. We also will deepen our understanding and expertise of meditation and learn other, new regenerating and enlivening mind-body health promoting strategies.

You may register for the retreat after services in harmony hall, or go online at http://www.ucop.org/content/midwest-unity-mens-retreat  or contact Peter Jarosewycz at mensgroup@ucop.org or 816-941-3575

Crystal Singing Bowl Concert TONIGHT!

Ignite the light within your heart with the sacred sound of Crystal Singing Bowls. That light within us is the spark of life. When the light is shining brightly, we are alive and singing our song to the world, loud and strong, which means we experience life with more ease and a greater sense of adventure. Sacred sound is one way we can ignite the light! The sound is useful for meditation, healing, stress reduction, biofeedback, chakra balancing and cell toning. The tones set up a "frequency following response" that create a synchronization of the left and right brain hemispheres. Relaxation, creativity and a sense of balance follows. Come unwind and take in the healing sounds of Crystal Singing Bowls and learn the magic and mystery of these ancient bowls.

Tickets available at the door this evening for $25

Jeff Klein travels throughout the United States offering Crystal Singing Bowl concerts at worship services, healing centers, yoga studios, senior homes and more. Participants are astounded by the uplifting energy they feel and often report a lessening of physical, mental and emotional pain, as well as a greater sense of spiritual well-being.

Vision Board Workshop

"Hold an image of the life you want, and that image will become fact."

 -- Norman Vincent Peale

Have you been meaning to create a "treasure map" to the life you dream of living? Maybe you have even been collecting images and ideas?  Now is the time to take it to the next level.  This practical class will create a safe place for you to express your heart's desire and then get started on bringing it to reality.  In four weeks we will sort through what we want, what it looks like, and put it onto a poster board.  In the important last week, we'll explore the resistance (chemicalization!) we experience when we see it in full color.  Each session will include a short meditation as well as work time.  Then in the fall, we will meet again to share our progress!

UCOP and You

This class has been designed for those who are newer to Unity and/or Unity Church of Overland Park.  The materials presented will offer the history of Unity and UCOP.  In addition, participants will hear about the various ministry staff members and their individual roles and responsibilities. They will be provided information pertaining to volunteer teams, outreach programs and affinity groups.  The class will offer opportunities for attendees to uncover and begin offering their gifts through stepping into service for the ministry in some way.  As with all classes, participants will begin to build relationships and community with one another.

Bible Overview: The Hebrew Scriptures

This course introduces the rich history of the Hebrew Scriptures, known in the Jewish tradition as Tanakh, and provides a framework for future study. Learners will explore the history and development of the Hebrew Scriptures through stories, exploration of events and discussion of the perspectives from which the books of the Law (Torah), the Prophets (Nevi'im) and the Writings (Kethuvim) were written. The course identifies the main story lines and historical periods of the Hebrew Scriptures. It begins with the allegories of Genesis and traces the history of the Hebrew people from the call of Abraham through the Patriarchal period, the Exodus, the period of the Judges, the United Kingdom, the Divided Kingdom, the Exile and the post-Exile periods.

Manifest the Life of Your Dreams

Dr. Garland Landrith, from the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know?" is returning to Unity Church of Overland Park! He will be offering a seminar that will teach you how to release yourself from being a victim of your subconscious doubts and, instead, expand your consciousness so you can become a co-creator. Dr. Landrith has offered his very popular Quantum Tapping (EFT) seminars in the past and has now expanded them to incorporate HeartMath and Ho'oponopono. Tapping on acupuncture points aligns the body's energies with your heart; HeartMath directly uses the heart chakra as its main healing and manifestation point; Ho'oponopono uses love so that the focus is shifted from changing another person to changing oneself instead. By using these techniques together, Dr. Landrith will use the Quantum Love Flow as a clearing device to enhance your ability to create miracles with your mind. You will even learn how to release those subconscious blocks that have been holding you back. By using a unique combination of Tapping, HeartMath and Quantum Ho'oponopono we can then transform these negative blocks into positive ones by creating a new Brain Matrix. You will feel your energy flowing like you are "high on life" or what is termed "being in the zone." You will be taught the same Quantum techniques that Dr. Landrith used to reduce the crime rates in several major cities, proving that we can make the world a better place with our intentions. Also Dr. Landrith will work on volunteers from the participants, so that you can learn how to do this healing technique by first hand observation. Expect your life to be totally transformed after this class! Register here

Awaken the Healer Within

Join Dr. Jonah Yakel as he shares more practices from the mystical tradition of Sufism to help you awaken to the divine healing presence that resides within.    Whether you are a beginner or experienced this class will help you tune to the source of all healing.  This class is great for both healers and those seeking to heal.

Suggested Love Offering: $10

Dr. Jonah Yakel is a healer, teacher, speaker, chiropractor and flow practitioner. In 2002 he awakened to his life's calling, abruptly leaving his career as an electrical engineer, to pursue his dream of being an alternative health care practitioner.  Guided by the knowledge that the body has an innate intelligence and contains a potential for healing far greater than any outside source could ever provide, he obtained his doctorate in chiropractic in 2006.  He has studied with leaders in the field of chiropractic and natural health including Dr. Lance Wright, founder and developed of Flow, and Dr. Donald Epstein, founder of Network Spinal Analysis.
Dr. Yakel has owned health and wellness clinics in Tucson, AZ, and Scottsdale, AZ, and is currently serving his community in Overland Park, KS.  In addition to providing the best chiropractic care possible, Dr. Yakel writes, lectures and teaches within the community on natural health and healing.

Listening To Your Soul

"When the soul wishes to experience something, she throws an image of the experience before her and enters her own image." - Meister Eckhart

During this 3-hour workshop you will release the transformative power of intuition as your soul gravitates to images that have meaning for you.  SoulCollage® is a process for creating a personal card deck that you can use daily to listen to your soul wisdom.  Making and using SoulCollage® cards, you gain insight and answers for whatever questions you have, wherever you are on your journey.  This is a profound practice that gives you access to your inner compass and your highest wisdom.

Invite a friend to join you for the workshop or come and make a new friend who shares your interest in the mystical and magical.  You don't need any artistic ability; the cards are made with simple cutting and pasting skills.  Everything you need is already within you, waiting to be discovered through this simple "soul-tending" process.

Rev. Barbara Hadley is a certified SoulCollage® facilitator and has trained with Seena Frost, the originator of the process.  She is an ordained Unity minister and also works as a professional chaplain at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, serving in the Neonatal Intensive Care and Mother & Baby units.  In addition to chaplaincy, Barbara speaks in Unity churches on a regular basis, teaches spiritual education classes and facilitates the Alternatives to Violence program in state and federal prisons. A native of Kansas City, she has been a member of Unity Church of Overland Park for over 25 years.  She and her husband, Tom, have two grown children and two tiny dogs.

In the Presence Meditation

This meditation provides the opportunity to go into a deep, deep experience of the Presence. Meditation does wonderful things to our human bodies, giving them time to revitalize and heal themselves. At the same time, our souls experience their real, true selves, going to the place inside that is timeless and eternal. After the meditation, there will be a sacred prayer circle to share and honor one another's prayer intentions. You'll experience such serenity you'll want it to go on forever.

This month only, the class will be offered on the fourth Tuesday of the month, rather than the third Tuesday.

Do You Shop on Amazon?

Many of us do our shopping these days from the comfort and convenience of our own homes using the Amazon marketplace. Did you know that if you go to our UCOP website first, and then enter the Amazon site through our link, the church will then get a small percentage of that purchase?  It's like free money for the church!  And it doesn't have to be a spiritual book or something church-related either. We will get a small percentage of anything you purchase on Amazon, if you go through our site first on your way there. How cool is that?!  It doesn't cost you anything to help support your spiritual community because you were going to shop anyway, weren't you!  Now you can do it and help UCOP at the same time. Just click here and it will take you to the UCOP Amazon access page.  You can also find the Amazon access page from a link on our Homepage as well at www.ucop.org.   So happy shopping and thank you for your support!  We truly appreciate you.
