Celebration of Life Service for Rev. Sky St. John
 Saturday, January 25th, 7:00 p.m.

Rev. Sky St. John
December 15, 1948 - December 19, 2013
Watch his Celebration of Life Service   LIVE
Broadcasting from Unity of Hawaii at 7:00pm CST

During his time as a ministerial student, Sky was part of our UCOP family, performing as a soloist for us on various Sundays.  Graduating from Unity Seminary in 1995, he worked as a minister in the Retreat Department at Unity Village for two years. During that time, he was also the Music Director for the first Unity World Conference and traveled throughout the country presenting workshops, concerts and Sunday services.  During his time at Unity Village, Unity Church of Overland Park was blessed by his gifts in various capacities.

Sky then spent the next five years in Omaha, Nebraska as the minister at Unity Church of Omaha, where they grew from a congregation of fifty to nearly five hundred. Their stated mission was: to realize our oneness with God and each other, and this was still a mantra for Sky.
Sky St. John
spent the majority of his adult life in Honolulu where he was a public school teacher for thirteen years before answering the call to become a Unity minister.   He returned to Hawaii and Unity Church of Hawaii in July 2005.

Sky also had a successful entertainment career, performing at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for fifteen years and producing several professional recordings. He became a registered nurse and worked for two years in the last existing leper colony in the United States, on the island of Molokai. After teaching nursing at the college level, Sky formed a nursing education company called "Operation Nightingale," training international nurses from all over the world.

He held degrees in education, communications, nursing, with graduate work in Health Education and was A.B.D. (all but dissertation) for a Doctorate in Public Health. He was the builder and owner of a bed-and-breakfast on the big island of Hawaii until his call into ministry in 1994.

"Love transforms.  It transforms everything, all the time.
Life is change.  If we resist change, we are resisting LIFE!
I donʻt have to like it, God just said I had to show up!"
~ Rev. Sky St. John
2014... the Year of "I AM"
There is tremendous co-creative power in those two little words... "I AM,"  which you consistently use to define who you are and what you are capable of. These two words are a holy expression for the name of God - the highest aspect of yourself. This year, we explore the highest possibility for our lives by choosing a quality each month to focus on and express. In every moment know that you are the living expression of the Christ! This year we invite you to consider empowering your life with the following affirmations:
"I AM"...
Real... Courageous... Aware... Curious... Adventurous... Lighthearted... Outrageous... Visionary... Limitless... Connected... and Sacred

And to kick things off in January, let us affirm together:

Who Do I Say I AM?

2014 is the year of the "I AM" at Unity Church of Overland Park. The

I AM is the you that       is beyond personality, roles at work or home, gender, race, sexuality, success, failure, worry or fear. It's your real self, who you really are at the root of the root of you! Whoever you say that "I AM" patterns in your life, your body, your relationships, your happiness and overall spiritual experience and life success. Join Tamie Rising for this very insightful and one-of-a-kind interactive workshop where you get introduced to a part of you that you may not have met before! Learn how our being-ness of I AM ultimately does the work in our life and sets us free to live from a place of true knowing of who we really are. This workshop experience creates a powerful space for each individual and our community as a whole for fuller, freer expression in 2014.

Crystal Singing Bowl Concert

Ignite the light within your heart with the sacred sound of Crystal Singing Bowls. That light within us is the spark of life. When the light is shining brightly, we are alive and singing our song to the world, loud and strong, which means we experience life with more ease and a greater sense of adventure. Sacred sound is one way we can ignite the light! The sound is useful for meditation, healing, stress reduction, biofeedback, chakra balancing and cell toning. The tones set up a "frequency following response" that create a synchronization of the left and right brain hemispheres. Relaxation, creativity and a sense of balance follows. Come unwind and take in the healing sounds of Crystal Singing Bowls and learn the magic and mystery of these ancient bowls.

Advanced Tickets: $20 available through our website here  ($25 at the door)

Jeff Klein travels throughout the United States offering Crystal Singing Bowl concerts at worship services, healing centers, yoga studios, senior homes and more. Participants are astounded by the uplifting energy they feel and often report a lessening of physical, mental and emotional pain, as well as a greater sense of spiritual well-being.
Discover the Power Within You

This course is a spiritual study of the true teachings of Jesus Christ. It is based on the book "Discover the Power Within You" by Eric Butterworth. This book presents the thesis that we all can discover, accept and release the power of the divinity Jesus believed dwelt within him and also in each individual. This divinity Jesus described as the Kingdom of Heaven within.

Eric Butterworth calls us to believe that the divinity within man was not just Jesus' heritage. That divine heritage, he asserts, is also ours. For that reason, this book is more than just something to read and believe. It becomes a tool to develop an action plan and to live our divinity. Butterworth says that if you and I totally accept the truth we will also be able to see in others the same divinity that is in us and was also in Jesus. This course is an inner call from your true being. It is a call for you to express and manifest what you really are.
