 | And so we conclude our minsterial search process. | |
A Letter from the UCOP Board of Directors:
Dear Friend,
About 6 months ago, we all stepped on the path of transition as a church community. Along the way, Spirit called us higher leading us from transition to transformation. It was in that consciousness of transformation that this spiritual community came together to envision the qualities we wanted in a new senior minister. The Ministerial Search Team and the UCOP Board of Directors held this awakening consciousness of our church family as we called forth the right and perfect ministerial leadership to guide UCOP on its transformational journey.
What we began to realize as we looked at potential candidates was that our community was calling for broader leadership. So we had an opportunity to create a new paradigm to shepherd this transformation that your vision was calling forth. The board realized clearly and decisively that we had two of the most qualified ministers here at UCOP to carry out our broader vision.
Therefore, we would like to announce a new Executive Ministry Team with Reverend Robin Ferguson as our Lead Minister of Spiritual Growth and Development and Reverend Bob Barth as Minister of Operations.
Rev. Robin brings a great deal of experience to our ministry, having founded a new Unity church where she led for 6 years and then worked with hundreds of churches during her time at Unity Worldwide Ministries. And, of course, Rev. Bob brings his 38 years of ministry leadership to this team as well. Together they will hire an associate minister in the coming months to support other areas of growth for the ministry. We believe that it is through this spirit-led and dynamic team leadership that more can be accomplished to realize our highest visions for this church community.
And the Ministerial Search Team will become the new Ministerial Support Team, calling them higher into leadership and service. And you are all being invited to step into this field of community connections, leadership or whatever is calling to you at this unique time of transformation. We are all here to support each other. Please let us know if you have questions.
With love and gratitude,
Staci Cross
President, Unity Church of Overland Park Board of Directors |
 | ?? Questions ?? | |
The Executive Ministry Team will address some of the questions that have arisen since last Sunday's announcement during service this coming Sunday. For those who may have questions or concerns beyond that regarding the decision of the Board and Minsterial Search Team, please plan to join the Board of Directors in the peace chapel Sunday, November 3rd. They will be available after both services. |
 | Fall Faith EVENT and WORKSHOP! | |
This year's Fall Faith Event will be somewhat different than in years past. We will begin the evening with an Opening Reception in harmony hall at 6:00p.m. and enjoy a variety of hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Everyone will have an equal chance to win fabulous prizes in our FUNd-raising Drawing! Each entry in the drawing costs $5 (or get 5 entries for just $20). The drawing will be held in the sanctuary, right before our evening's entertainment gets under way.
Then at 7:30, comedian and motivational speaker, Kyle Cease, takes the stage in a show called "Life Is a Playground." Kyle was ranked #1 in 2009 on Comedy Central's Stand-Up Showdown. He is also a highly sought after motivational and inspirational speaker who uses comedy to get his message of consciousness out into the world. ( www.kylecease.com )
Following the comedy event, we will head back down to harmony hall for Dancing and a Dessert Reception from 9:00-11:00p.m.
Kyle will also offer a workshop called "Evolving Out Loud," on Saturday the 16th, following the event. This will be a 5-hour motivational workshop with lunch from Jason's Deli included. Benefits from this talk and workshop will include minimizing, if not ending stage fright, writers block, hesitation, doubt, fear and moving towards what you really want in your life, moving to a place beyond where you are now. Money, health, relationships, all that stuff can be improved as you move towards your core. Kyle will guide you in the art of allowing and letting go and in the unlimited art of playing. He'll also discuss adding humor to your life and work. The workshop will be open to Fall Faith participants, as well as the greater community. So if you know someone who might be interested in, or benefit from the workshop, by all means, tell them about it!
Tickets for the Event and the Workshop, as well as entries for the
FUN-draising Drawing are all on sale NOW after services,
