Living the Empowered Life!
Our focus in August is upon Service.
Unity in Action

"I live my life in service to the world."
Fall Faith is just around the corner!

Daring GreatlyThis fall we will be coming together on an adventure in faith that will take us deeper and call us higher. For 5 weeks, beginning October 6th, we will be looking at how the courage to be vulnerable can transform the way we live, love and lead. During this powerful and transformative time in our community's journey we will be given an opportunity to support each other in discovering and expressing our true selves as we study the book Daring Greatly by Brené Brown.

Our theme will be "Daring to Live the Empowered Life" and we will be sharing more details on the empowered living circles and celebration event as the time draws closer.

The books are available in our bookstore, at 40% off the retail price, so we invite you to stop by and get a jump on this great opportunity.

All-Church Potluck- August 18th

It's time to get together again and SUPER CHARGE some of the ideas that came from our last Potluck and Visioning on May 5!  We want your input about how we can start implementing some of the activities you identified as most impopotluckrtant for UCOP.

Two of those ideas that had a great deal of energy in our last visioning were:

*  Year-round Small Groups and...
*   More Meaningful Community Outreach Activities

So, bring a dish to share after Sunday services in harmony hall and plan to spend about an hour brainstorming with us!

7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20  with Debra Baker

In presence
This meditation provides the opportunity to go into a deep, deep experience of the Presence. Meditation does wonderful things to our human bodies, giving them vital time to revitalize and heal themselves. At the same time, our souls experience their real, true selves, going to the place inside that is timeless and eternal. After the meditation, there will be a sacred prayer circle to share and honor one another's prayer intentions. You'll experience such serenity you won't want it to end.

Change for Change

Our Prosperity in Action Team has come up with a fun way for the entire congregation (even the kids) to participate in the hiring process of our new senior minster in a way that truly supports Unity Church of Overland Park through this time of change!

Change for Change

What it is: To help cover the expenses of bringing three candidates in to try out for the senior minister position, the Prosperity in Action Team is implementing the "Change for Change" program.

How you do it: Pick up a "Change for Change" cup at church, and at the end of each day, put your change in the cup. Then on Sunday, bring your change with you and put it in the "Change for Change" bowl in the lobby. We will give you regular updates as to how much has been raised.

New opportunities to help: You may also now choose to fund a specific expense, such as a plane ticket, or hotel stay, or a breakfast or lunch. The Prosperity in Action Team has a list of specific expenses, both large and small, that you may now pledge to take care of on behalf of our spiritual community.  Just speak with one of the PiA team members in the lobby after services.
Thus far, in coin and pledges combined, we have raised a total of $4,262.91 as of August 8th.  Thank you to everyone who has donated so generously.
