YOTH TRUNK SHOW:
OCTOBER 9-11

We know we've been quiet about our upcoming YOTH trunk show scheduled for Columbus Day weekend (October 9-11th), but we think what we're about to tell you was worth the wait. Mark your calendars for a weekend full of magic, because friends, it's about to get pretty magical around here.

Friday, October 9th--6 to 9 pm
Cocktail Reception + Pre-Sale Party*

Saturday, October 10th: 10 am to 6 pm
YOTH Yarns Trunk Show

Sunday, October 11th: 11 am to 2 pm
Farmhouse Brunch*

*The Cocktail Reception and the Farmhouse Brunch are open to ticketholders only.

On Friday evening, we'll have a cocktail reception and pre-sale party, where 25 ticketholders will receive goody bags, have the first pick of the trunk show and listen to a presentation by Veronika about YOTH yarns' story. We'll be celebrating with both sparkling wine (L. Mawby, of course!) and a signature fall cocktail, as well as some of our favorite local cheeses and fruits.

Saturday is the Main Event--a trunk show for everyone with samples, TONS of yarn and the elusive Puppies (the gradient kits shown in the photo above). You'll be greeted at the door with a helpful shopping list (where we'll tell you what you can knit with anywhere between 1 and 8 skeins of Big Sister or Little Brother), as well as pattern inspiration galore. We'll have piping hot coffee at the ready and there's a good chance Gallagher's famous pumpkin doughnuts will be here.

On Sunday morning, we'll have a brunch at The Granary, where 25 ticketholders will receive goody bags, eat a farm-fresh brunch, and knit with Veronika while she shares tips & tricks on knitting, designing and the process involved in creating a yarn company. The Granary is just six miles north of Wool & Honey, and with its open kitchen, huge wraparound porch and loft bedroom, it serves as a year-round cottage nestled on a 136-acre working farm.

Tickets will go on sale on our website on Monday, September 28th at 9 am.
You may purchase only ONE ticket--you may choose one event or the other, so that the greatest number of customers can have a chance to participate in these special events. We'll be sending you a link to the tickets at 9 am on Saturday morning.
Tickets will be $30 each.

Every person who purchases a ticket will ALSO be receiving a swanky goody bag, which includes an exclusive YOTH canvas tote that is only available at events.

YOTH Yarns (Yarns On The House) is a brother-sister team based out of Washington State making amazingly simple, breathtakingly gorgeous yarns for knitters to create pieces that will become modern classics. The line consists of two weights (fingering and DK), in a beautiful palette of neutrals that are destined to become wardrobe staples.

We've had many trunk shows over the years (and trust us, we're planning on MANY more), but we promise that you've never seen anything like what we have planned. We promise you that this is going to be the weekend of the year at Wool & Honey.

KAL PROGRESS UPDATE

How are you doing, friends? We've heard reports that many of you have divided for the fronts and backs and even a few more are ready to start in on the sleeves! You still have one week from today to complete your sweater--and we'll be at the shop this Thursday (the 24th) from 5-7:30 pm for our last KAL-focused Open Knitting. If you're starting to sweat, don't--you still have time. We're rooting for you!

And remember--every participant who finishes their sweater by September 30th will receive a kit from us (a $36 value!) as well as their name entered to win a $50 gift certificate to Wool & Honey, either in-store or online.

Missed September's Lucinda Knit-A-Long? Play along with us next time--we'll be knitting another sweater from Madder: Anthology 2 beginning January 1st.
Stay tuned to our newsletters for more details soon.

DUNEGRASS COWL

Swish, swish, swish. By the end of September, the wind along the Big Water has increased in intensity, and the temperatures have dipped enough in the mornings and evenings to start pulling out mid-weight accessories. Our family was out at Good Harbor last night (yes, the water is still warm enough for swimming!) and the lakeside breezes were whistling through the dunegrass and the gentle waves were lapping the shoreline and the sun was sinking behind Alligator Hill and all was right with the world. After we hopped out of the water, I wished I had a little something with me to cut the chill...and this floaty infinity cowl would have been perfect. 76" in circumference (and 7" deep), it's long enough to wrap once, twice, even three times around your neck--without adding bulk. Knit from ethereal mohair and Merino with a very simple (easy to memorize!) allover pattern, this cowl might just be the thing for the ladies on your Christmas list.

Our sample is shown in Quince & Co. Piper in San Angelo, a soft, dusty green, but you can choose any of the colors below for a different look. This special yarn is 100% grown in Texas, so each of the colors are named after Texas towns.

Each kit will make one infinity-style cowl and includes an easy-to-read pattern and one skein of Quince & Co. Piper in your choice of colors.

We know that Life--is about taking time to enjoy the everyday, as well as all the other obligations we have, day in, day out. It's not hard at all to get caught up in the shuffling and the planning and the just plain busyness of it all... and to gloss over the daily joys, forgetting about why it is that we do what we do and just like that, the moment is gone. While we we were planning for the next season.

One of the greatest gifts we have as knitters is to spend a little time every day with our tools, our minds, our hands, some quiet and make. Making a tiny sweater for the first grandchild that's growing inside your daughter's belly. Making a pair of mittens to keep your best friend's hands warm out on the cross-country ski trail. Making a sweater for the guy who finally gave you that ring.

It doesn't have to be big. Or complicated. Or expensive. (We've found that a simple garter stitch dish cloth and a handmade soap tied with a ribbon makes a wonderful wedding/housewarming/thank-you-for-being-my-postmaster gift, time after time after

time.)

What a gift should be, however, is heart felt. Which is why we're starting now with our celebrated 12 Knits of Christmas (in its eighth year, if you can believe it!) We've written 12 patterns for the hands, home and heart that, if you start now, will give you plenty of time to create meaningful gifts while rejoicing in the everyday.

Without question, our 12 Knits of Christmas is the best it's ever been.

The focus is on gifts that you'll be ecstatic to give, whether it's because they're knit with yarn you've never seen before (they are), they all require less than two weeks to complete (they do) or because they're fresh takes on classic knitted gifts (they will be).

There's more. (Of course.)  We'll be giving away six outrageous prizes to six very lucky knitters.

1.) For each ambitious customer who purchases ALL 12 kits, you'll be entered into a drawing to win a $250 gift certificate to Wool & Honey, either in-house or online.

2.) For each kit ordered, you'll be entered into a separate drawing for
three (3) $25 gift certificates, two (2) $50 gift certificates and one (1) $100 gift certificate to Wool & Honey, either in-house or online.  (Ordering 3 of the same kit?  That counts as 3 entries!)
