SWEET GEORGIA HAS LANDED!
If you haven't yet had the opportunity to knit with Sweet Georgia yarn, you don't know what you're missing. Deep, saturated color, exquisite fiber blends....just the thing to help keep the winter blues at bay. We've been waiting for this order since Halloween and it finally arrived on Monday--it's always such a treat to rip into these gorgeous boxes! We have restocks in three of their very popular yarns; don't wait to snag a few skeins before they're gone.
Tough Love Sock is our most popular and best-selling sock yarn. Spun from 80% superwash and supersoft fine merino and 20% nylon, this 3-ply yarn is so versatile - knit it firmly for hard wearing socks, knit it loosely for drapey shawls, or knit it doubled for a great worsted weight substitute. A perfect blend of warmth and strength to make a hardwearing sock yarn that can stand up to your affection and abuse.
CashSilk Lace is an exquisite blend of cashmere and silk that's just begging for an intricate lace shawl. Want something simpler? Try one skein and our Here Comes the Sun infinity cowl. Because with cashmere and silk, what more do you really need?
Silk Mist a laceweight mohair with a subtle silk sheen that sparkles beneath a fuzzy halo. (Think Rowan KidSilk Haze.) There are some people who can't get enough mohair in their lives and this yarn is one of the best.
Check out these Sweet Georgia Yarns, as well as the rest of our yarns, HERE.

BEGINNING THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7TH AT 11 A.M. EST
FINISHING SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23RD
So maybe Knitting Resolutions on January 1st aren't your thing, but what about a challenge for a special year? What about a real challenge, with specific parameters, for a short (but intense!) period of time? What if we took our knitting as seriously as athletes take their sport, at least once every four years?
Sound wacky? Insert the Knitting Olympics. The Knitting Olympics started during the 2006 Torino Olympics with the wackiest (and maybe most famous) knitter of them all, Stephanie Pearl McPhee, aka The Yarn Harlot.
Here are the original rules set by Stephanie from this blog post:
"Eligibility:
Any knitter who, embracing the "Citius, Altius, Fortius" ideal, would like to challenge themselves while embracing the Olympic spirit, and is just whacked enough to play along with me.
Concept:
You must cast on a project during the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter
Olympics (Feb 7th)- and finish before the Olympic flame goes out (Feb 23rd). That's 16 days.
Note: The Opening Ceremonies begin at 8pm Moscow time. There is a
time difference calculator to help you figure out your start time. Here is a quick reference: 20:00 MSK = 16:00 GMT = 11:00 am EST = 8:00 am PST
Rules:
- The project must be a challenge for you to complete in 16 days.
- There are no rules about what a challenge would be. Like the real Olympics, there are many areas to compete in. If you are a new knitter, then a garter stitch baby sweater might do...If you are experienced, well. I've already considered Torino. Use your own conscience.
- While this is intended to be somewhat difficult (like the Olympics) it is not intended to ruin your life. Don't set yourself up for failure. (Olympic athletes may cry, but they do not whine pitifully, sob and threaten members of their family with pointed sticks because they haven't slept in five days.) This is intended to (like the Olympics) require some measure of sacrifice, and be difficult, but it should be possible to attain.
- No casting on before the flame is lit.
- Finish before the flame goes out.
- You may swatch before the games. (I consider this "training.") "
While the original Knitting Olympics did not give out actual medals, fans of Wool & Honey will be competing for a gold and a silver medal. We'll be giving away two prizes (by choosing winners at random): one $50 gift certificate to Wool & Honey and one of our exclusive kits.
To enter, post a picture of your project on our Facebook page when you begin (sometime on February 7th) and your finished project before 12 a.m. EST on February 23rd. You must post some reference point in the photo of both the beginning AND end of your project to qualify (a Google time stamp, the closing ceremony on television in the background, etc).
Not sure what to pick for your project? Always wanted to learn Fair Isle but never learned? Try getting a head start on next Christmas with a stocking. Does your first sweater seem an insurmountable goal? Knit a baby sweater instead. Liz is going to complete her first lace shawl. My plan is to knit a sweater for Sasha, starting with spinning the yarn. Still need an idea? Stop into the shop--we've got tons of inspiration to share.

Grocer's Daughter Chocolate was founded in 2004 by a passion for chocolate--one that focuses on fairly-traded cacao and the highest quality ingredients. Grocer's Daughter chocolates are made using fruits, edible flowers and herbs from the company gardens whenever possible, in the soils of northern Michigan--just a few miles away, perched atop a dune in the quaint village of Empire.
Elara Coleman is a native Michigander who creates gorgeous jewelry from 100% recycled sterling and fine silver, re-purposed architectural copper and lead-free enamels. All her findings and jewelry are handmade and designed by Elara in her Frankfort studio.

Not sure what to knit with this beautiful yarn? We've got a sample of the Acadia Cowl pictured below knit with one skein (we featured this one during our most recent 12 Knits of Christmas,) a
little dress for Sasha knit with two skeins (18 month size), and we're planning our Scalene Shawl class around three skeins (two of the main, one in a contrasting color) of this yarn.
