Knitting and Social Networking:
Expanding the Knitting Circle
For many, many of you that are reading this, your time in Northern Michigan is extremely limited. You're here for a long weekend a few times a year, or for your yearly two-week vacation in July. Many of you live nearby, but it might be a few weeks between visits to the shop. For some of you, we've never met, but have been introduced by way of Ravelry or Etsy. We feel so lucky that during this time of at-your-fingertips-technology, we can touch base with all of you--near OR far--with a quick status update or a message board post.
Facebook and Ravelry are both great ways to get to know your community. Looking for a ride to Open Knitting on Saturday mornings? Wondering what our hours are on a particularly snowy Wednesday (or if we'll be open at all?) Lurking to see if that latest box of Malabrigo has arrived?
We're always trying to reach more knitters--the circle can never be too big! We'd like to ask you to help us with our campaign. We're attempting to get 1,000 likes on our Facebook page and when we hit several milestones (the first being 500, of course!), we'll be giving away all kinds of freebies. (Think stitch markers, kits, wool wash, yarn...) When we hit 1,000 likes, we'll have a gift basket to give away--a gift basket that includes a Wool & Honey gift certificate and is valued at over $100. The giveaways could go to ANYone--we'll select the winners by randomly generate a name from the entire fan base!
Check us out--and invite your friends--to "Like" our page at
There might just be something in it for
you!
* * * * * You can find us on Ravelry--we're "Friends of Wool & Honey, formerly Inish Knits". Feel free to join--or start!--the conversation.

Scalene is an asymmetrically shaped, triangular scarf that features both horizontal and vertical keyholes for several styles of wear. This gender neutral design looks great on women and men of any age. The knitting is simple enough for an adventurous beginner, but interesting enough for knitters at any skill level.
We'll be knitting the dk-weight version during this class in one of our favorite yarns this winter, the Fibre Company's Acadia.
.
Two 2-hour classes, $25.00. Materials not included.

Saturday, February 8th
1 to 3 p.m. One of the most important aspects of knitting isn't the actual knitting--it's the sewing, seaming & wrestling that some cleverly call "finishing". Knowing how to match up the proper techniques insures overall knitting success. This session will put you at ease, leaving you to create pieces you're proud to call hand-knit. We'll focus on the three major seams you encounter in the knitting world, as well as the infamous Kitchener stitch. (Which isn't nearly as difficult as you think. Really.)
One 2- hour class. $25.00. Materials included.
Knitting 201: Beyond the Basics
Saturday, February 15th
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Okay, so you can cast on, knit, purl and bind off. What's next? This session will be devoted to increasing, decreasing and learning to knit in the round. After this session, knitting a hat or a pair of mittens would be the natural next step.
One 2-hour session. $25.00.
