You Can Now Attest to Meaningful Use with Medicaid

"HealthInsight would like to announce the availability of the Meaningful Use Attestation system from Utah Medicaid. If you already received your adopt, implement, or upgrade (AIU) payment from last year, you can now attest to having performed 90 days of Meaningful Use. This payment will allow you to receive $8,500 per eligible clinician. (MD, DO, NP , CNMW, Dentist, and PA in some cases)." Read more . . .

Utah Physician Office Practices Receive Award
for Quality Care
"HealthInsight has announced 55 physician office practices as recipients of the 2012 HealthInsight Quality Award. These physician office practices were selected for demonstrating high quality care and a commitment to excellence in health care.
The 2012 Physician Office HealthInsight Quality Award is presented to physician practices that are successful with the adoption of health information technology; use care management methods regularly; participate in a data reporting quality initiative; and achieve exemplary performance on nationally recognized quality measures related to diabetes, cancer screening, and immunizations.

Living Well Classes
"Want to decrease your pain, decrease your doctors' visits, & enjoy life more? The Utah Arthritis Program is promoting Living Well with Chronic Conditions, a self-management program. Classes are given 2 1/2 hours, once a week, for 6 weeks, in community settings. People with different chronic health problems all attend together. Classes are conducted by two trained leaders; one or both with a chronic disease themselves. Anyone with an ongoing condition such as asthma, arthritis, chronic joint pain, fibromyalgia, cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart failure, COPD or emphysema, depression, chronic pain or others." New Stage 2 Meaningful Use Resources Added to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Website
To help eligible professionals participate in Stage 2 of Meaningful Use in the Medicare & Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Program, CMS has added Stage 2 meaningful use specification sheets for both eligible professionals and for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals.
The new specification sheets can be found here. Each specification sheet has detailed information on each meaningful use measure, such as; definition of terms, attestation requirements, core and menu objective, and additional information.

OCR Issues First Fine for Non-Major BreachHealthData Management, 1/9/13 "The Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights for the first time is financially punishing an organization for a breach of protected health information that affected less than 500 individuals. This is a new policy as OCR has previously limited issuance of hefty fines--and publicity of the fines--against several organizations following a "major" breach that affected 500 or more individuals."
