Free Resources to Help You Explore Treatment Options for Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among men and women. To ensure that you and your patients have the necessary information to compare treatments together, free resources on heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke are available through HealthInsight's partnership with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). These valuable resources include research summaries for both clinicians and patients that provide unbiased, evidence-based treatment comparisons in easy-to-understand, readable formats. Privacy and Security Risk Assessment is mandatory for all practices under HIPAA section 45 CFR 164.308(a)(1). It is also a requirement for the Meaningful Use incentive program.

 

What does that mean for your business? How do you even perform a risk assessment?

The Meaningful Use Incentive Program requires eligible providers (EP) to select at least one public health measure from the objectives-measures menu set to be qualified to receive the incentive. The federal rule also authorizes states to define public health objectives "according to applicable law and practice." This statement intends to provide a clear description of the current status of public health meaningful use reporting practice in the state of Utah.

Strategies to Help a Smoker Who is Struggling
to Quit


no smokingTobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death worldwide. Stopping tobacco use benefits virtually every smoker. Most of the 19% of US residents who smoke want to quit and have tried to do so. Most individual quit attempts fail, but two-thirds of smokers use no treatment when trying to quit. Treating tobacco dependence is one of the most cost-effective actions in health care. With a brief intervention, physicians can prompt smokers to
attempt to quit and connect them to evidence-based treatment that includes pharmacotherapy and behavioral support (ie, counseling).

What is the Utah Diabetes Practice Recommendations (UDPR) for Adults? 

 

The UDPR is a tool designed for on-the-spot reference by primary care providers caring for the adult outpatients with patients with Diabetes. It also has patient education, medication therapy recommendations, and insulin start and titration guides. It is a one stop shop for standards of care in an easily digestible format.
