GroWNC Receives National and State Awards

Good day!  Here is some good news that recognizes your involvement and the products and tools that were developed for GroWNC.

The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) awarded a 2014 Innovation Award to GroWNC.  It was presented to Land of Sky Regional Council at NADO's Annual Conference on August 26th.  NADO is a Washington, DC-based association that promotes programs and policies that strengthen local governments, communities, and economies through regional cooperation, program delivery, and comprehensive strategies.  The association's Innovation Awards program recognizes regional development organizations and partnering organizations for improving the economic and community competitiveness of our nation's regions and local communities.

The North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-NC) awarded GroWNC a 2014 NC Marvin Collins Outstanding Planning Award in the Comprehensive Planning - Multijurisdictional or Regional category.  The award recognizes highly effective and/or successful plans, projects, or ordinances implemented or adopted in the current or past five years.  The high quality of the project and its processes impressed the Awards Committee; they particularly liked the methods used to involve many groups in the plan's development. High marks were given to the plan's various documents that seem appealing to the general public.  This award will be presented at the annual state conference of the North Carolina Chapter of APA in October.
