Workshop: Energy Saving Performance Contracting

On May 20th, from 9am - 1pm, Land of Sky Regional Council will host a free day workshop on  Energy Saving Performance Contracting (ESPC) presented by the NC Chapter of the Energy Services Coalition and the NC Utility Savings Initiative. Energy Saving Performance Contracts are a unique procurement tool that public agencies can utilize to upgrade their facilities through projects that also save energy.  The workshops will  provide valuable insight about ESPC, how it works, the pros and cons, case studies, the process, and the new rules and regulations that have made the process easier for smaller organizations. The target audience is decision-makers from community colleges, local governments, and K-12 schools. However, anyone who is interested in learning about performance contracting is invited to attend. Attendance requires electronic registration. For more information and to sign up, click here.

WRP Helps Lead Manufacturing Conference on Zero Waste

On April 1 and 2, 2014, LOSRC's Waste Reduction Partners team helped lead the Manufacturers Zero Waste Conference in Asheville.  One hundred and sixty manufacturers' representatives attended from North Carolina and South Carolina.  Manufacturing leaders shared with peers their stories about how they have reduced waste, improved productivity, saved money, and eliminated landfilling at their factories.
The presenters included local representatives from ThermoFister, Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, and Sierra Nevada. The panel discussions and innovative solution sharing session received great praise from attendees. The inaugural event was held in conjunction with the Annual Carolina Recycling Association Conference and Trade show which drew over 600 attendees and exhibitors the year.
