Blue Ridge Bike Plan Available

The Blue Ridge Bike Plan is a joint effort between Land of Sky and the Southwestern Commission to identify priority corridors for bicycling in the Blue Ridge mountains. Women and Transportation Planning

APA Transportation Planning Division is offering a free webinar: "Women and Transportation Planning: Understanding Gender Issues."  March 7, 2014, from 1:00-2:30 PM EST. Join APA for a lively discussion with planning experts on the issues faced by women in mobility around the world. What are the issues, what is working well, where are we falling short? What should our priorities be as planners?

Great Places in North Carolina Awards

Do you love strolling down your Main Street?  Shopping, people-watching, eating, or hanging out with friends and family on a beautiful afternoon? Have you ever wanted to say "thank-you" to your favorite park, town square, or nature preserve in your community?   Now is your chance to show your love for your favorite Main Street or Public Place by nominating it for the 2014 Great Places in NC award!  Nominations due by March 24th.  Forms and information here.
Public Input

NC 280 Bicycle Corridor Study from Mills River to Brevard is underway, and the public and stakeholders are invited to provide input during the following meeting times:
  • Tuesday, March 25th 4:00 PM-7:00 PM, Mills River Town Hall, 124 Town Center Drive
  • Wednesday, March 26th, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, Community Center at 120 Schoolhouse Road
  • Thursday, March 27th 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, Mills River Town Hall, 124 Town Center Drive
The study is made possible through funding allocated by the Land-of-Sky RPO and the French Broad River MPO, with a local match provided by the Town of Mills River.  For more information about the meeting, contact Blake Sanders, blakesanders@altaplanning.com
Manufacturers Zero Waste Conference

Waste Reduction Partners working with the Carolina Recycling Association is planning the inaugural Manufacturers Zero Waste Conference on April 1 and 2, 2014, at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC.
