REVISED and UPDATED

Holiday Service Schedules Now Available

The Postal Service in South Bend, Indiana recently contacted us to announce that they will NOW accept mail on non-widely observed holidays.  "Non-widely observed holidays" include

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veterans Day

So... we have REVISED and UPDATED our 2015 Holiday Service Schedule (click here to download) and our 2016 Holiday Service Schedule (click here to download).

The REVISED and UPDATED Holiday Service Schedules should show a revision date at the bottom of 09/28/2015.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Perhaps next year we can issue our Holiday Service Schedule on an Etch-A-Sketch.

Honoring Student Athletes

Lake Michigan Mailers is proud to partner with WSJMSports Radio in support of the Student Athlete of the Week.  Each week, we will recognize one young athlete from Michigan's Great Southwest who has shown leadership in the classroom and on the playing field.

We will highlight each week's winning student on our website and Pinterest

Thanks for the Kind Words!

Recently we received this letter of recommendation from Wes Schmitt,
Treasurer/Administrator, of The South County News.   We genuinely appreciate our customers and we are overwhelmed by such a letter of support.

This letter is my recommendation to use Lake Michigan Mailers as your source for accurate and timely delivery to your customers.

We began our South County News newspaper in June of 2013.   The first month we hand delivered over 8,000 papers to homes and businesses that we wanted to reach.   We immediately became aware that this was not a sustainable approach.

As Treasurer/Administrator, it was my job to research and find out the best way to have the US Postal Service (USPS) deliver our monthly paper to the homes and businesses we wanted to reach.     In summary, and trying to be kind, this was not a fun process.   One of our Board members knew of Lake Michigan Mailers and we requested a meeting.

Bob Fugate and his team gave us a presentation of their processes and we were impressed, not only with how much easier our job would be, but mostly with us being assured of the timely delivery for our time sensitive issues, e.g., the 4th of July issue.

We have been with LMM since July of 2013 and even use LMM (in lieu of the USPS) to deliver our papers to the local post offices when we have the above mentioned time sensitive issues.   Bob and his team have always been there to assure our monthly publication is in the hands of our readers when we want.   Finally, we believe the minimal cost is worth every penny to receive the support Bob and his team have always provided.

Co-Founders Create Fund to Celebrate Student Achievement in Business

Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. announced today that company co-founders Robert and Karen Rhoa have created The Robert and Karen Rhoa Fund
at Kalamazoo College.  The fund will be used to underwrite The Robert and Karen Rhoa Prize in Business and The Robert and Karen Rhoa Prize for Outstanding Senior Individualized Project in Business.  Each prize will be awarded to a graduating senior majoring in business based on achievement of select criteria established by the Rhoa's and administered by the faculty of the College's Department of Economics and Business. The inaugural prizes will be awarded during commencement weekend in June 2016.

"Kalamazoo College is the perfect venue to demonstrate our family's continuing commitment to fostering a student's passion for business and entrepreneurial studies," said Robert Rhoa, CEO and co-founder of Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. College Scholarship Program Expanded

We are pleased to announce that Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. has expanded both the number of eligible private and public high schools that can participate in its scholarship program, as well as, the size of the scholarship that will be awarded in the spring of 2016 for those intending to pursue a degree in business, business management, or entrepreneurship from a four-year college or university.

Our scholarship program was first introduced as a pilot in January of 2015.  During the pilot only applications from Lake Michigan Catholic High School in Saint Joseph, Michigan and Hackett Catholic Prep in Kalamazoo, Michigan were considered. The 2015 program awarded two prizes of $1,000 each to qualified graduating seniors who intend to pursue a degree in business, business management, or entrepreneurship from a four-year college or university.

The minimum requirements of the scholarship include:
  • A cumulative G.P.A. of not less than 3.5 (non-weighted) as verified by the high school
  • Meaningful involvement in community service
  • Meaningful involvement in school-based extracurricular activities
Following the conclusion of the 2015 awards, we began an evaluation of our program to determine what, if any, improvements could be made.  We also engaged in detailed conversations with a number of guidance counselors throughout the region.  Our goal was to develop a program that was both highly competitive and economically substantial.  We believe our 2016 program satisfies these objectives.

The 2016 scholarship program will utilize the same selection criteria as the 2015 program but will be expanded to a single award of $2,000 and made available to seniors graduating from any private or public school in the following counties:

Indiana:
Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, and Saint Joseph

Michigan:
Allegan, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Hillsdale, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Saint Joseph, and Van Buren

The application deadline is
February 26, 2016

Holiday Registration Required for Daily Mail Service Customers
Holiday

In January 2013 we introduced iMailConnect.com as our secure, online customer service portal.  Although iMailConnect.com provides a number of benefits to our Daily Mail Service customers, a primary feature allows our customers to register in advance as to their specific service requirements on recognized holidays.

Having this information in advance allows us to efficiently adjust Daily Mail Service collection times for those customers who will remain open and require service.  Without this data we are compelled to contact customers by phone or email to ascertain the customer's service requirements.  This is daunting and expensive task given the nearly 800 customers we service each day.

Holiday registration has been a feature of iMailConnect.com for more than 18 months.  We will now require that all Daily Mail Service customers register their holiday service requirements for each of the "holidays", as specified below, through iMailConnect.com by the close of business four (4) days prior to the identified holiday.  Failure to properly register through iMailConnect.com will result in a non-refundable $30 service fee to cover our increased costs for manual route adjustments.

Holiday service requirements may be registered up to one year in advance.  If the status changes, at any time, it can be adjusted to reflect the new service requirement.

Please take a few minutes and update your holiday status to avoid additional costs or service interruptions.
