Guitar Ensemble classes now offered at GPMA
JUNE NEWSLETTER

What is Guitar Ensemble?

The guitar ensemble class consists of a group of guitar players playing songs and jamming. Ensemble classes provide a necessary balance to solo guitar practice. Guitars are rarely included in traditional bands and orchestras in our school system, and GPMA's guitar ensemble class is the solution for guitarists looking to expand their musicianship.

The guitar ensemble classes will provide students of any age or skill level with the opportunity to not only read music in a group but also to learn practical and fun ways to use the musical tools that a guitar player needs to perform all styles of music.

Experience the awesomeness of guitar ensemble for free!  Space is limited, so call today or sign up online at GrossePointeMusicAcademy.com/GuitarEnsemble

June, July and August are a great time to continue with private lessons.  It's easy to forget most of what you learned throughout the year if you take too much time off.  Music is a year round study for serious students.  Many students will increase lesson time or schedule twice weekly while they are out of school.  Private or group make-up lessons will be available to help you work around your busy schedule.

Voice & Piano

1. What is the thing you like most about teaching?

Two things: figuring out the best way to help a student reach the next level and being introduced to new music and techniques.

2. How do you inspire students to practice more?

Mostly, I remind them that consistent practice is the only way to improve their skill. You can learn musical concepts once a week, but the muscles in your hands and body learn from doing.

3. Where did you get your degree/certificate from?

Eastern Michigan University

4. What is your favorite type of music?

I like a lot of different music, but I prefer classic rock and "world"/"new age" music.

5. Tell us about any music musical projects you may be working on?

There are a few piano solos I'm practicing just for fun: MacGyver's theme song and Clair de Lune.

6. If you could give a quick tip for guitarists, what would it be?

If there is a section of music giving you trouble when you practice, slow down and practice a little part at a time, even if it's just 2 notes.
