Fall Was a Fine Time for Free Music
(and the Doobie Brothers!)
Ambrosia was the most attended concert this fall

The Levitt Pavilion ended the 2014 Everything Energy Concert Season with five weeks of free concerts and its annual fundraiser featuring the Doobie Brothers. Both were hugely successful with music-loving crowds!

During the Fall Concert Series, the largest audience was about 4,000 people to see 1970s and '80s pop icons, Ambrosia. For the year, area blues guitar legend, Jimmie Vaughan, drew the largest single night crowd at about 10,000 people. The Levitt finished its concert season with approximately 127,530 people attending concerts, the highest season attendance to date. Each night, the Arlington Police Department helps estimate the evening's crowd.

Classic rock institution, the Doobie Brothers, made an Arlington stop on their Rockin' Down the Highway tour and performed at College Park Center for the Levitt's annual benefit concert that raises money for more than 50 free concerts. Ticket sales for the Doobies were slightly higher than last year's concert with Foreigner, and the Levitt staff and board of directors are pleased to announce that they exceeded their fundraising goals. The Doobie Brothers were presented by Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. Thanks to our benefit concert sponsors, those who donated auction items and placed ads in the souvenir program, and everyone who came to the benefit concert and bought raffle tickets.

Thank you to everyone who made the Levitt's concert year such a success -- the sponsors, volunteers, musical artists, and of course, our audiences, especially all of those who helped support free music for everyone by contributing to the donation buckets and donating during North Texas Giving Day in September. The Levitt thanks Everything Energy for sponsoring the entire concert year, as well as the Fall Concert Series and fall concert sponsors shown below.

Free music returns to Downtown Arlington on Memorial Day weekend in 2015. Until then, the Levitt staff will be booking bands, writing grants, finding sponsors and raising money to make 2015 another great concert season!

We're Top Rated!

For the third year in a row, the Levitt Pavilion is honored to receive designation as a Top-Rated Nonprofit by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations. The designation is based on the large number of positive reviews written by volunteers, donors and audience members who enjoy their experience of free music under the stars at the Levitt Pavilion. While this year's top-rated awards continue through the end of this month, the Levitt was part of a group that qualified to receive its designation early.

"Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever," said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits. "People with direct experience with the Levitt Pavilion have voted that the organization is making a real difference."

Being on the top-rated list gives donors and volunteers confidence in the organization where they spend their money and time. The reviews by volunteers, donors and audience members show the on-the-ground results. This award is a form of recognition by the community about the Levitt's mission to bring more than 50 free concerts a year to Arlington that everyone can enjoy, especially those who can't afford to pay ticket prices for live arts and entertainment.
