COLLECT OF THE DAY
Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
Reflection

I am more and more convinced that God came among us in the Person of Jesus of Nazareth to show us the way to be reconciled with the God who deeply and passionately loves each and every one of us, to be reconciled and right with that God and to be reconciled and right with each other as the children of that one God who created us all.

He came to show us how to get right and how to get reconciled. He came to show us therefore how to become more than simply the human race - that's not good enough - came to show us how to be more than a collection of individualized self-interests, came to show us how to become more than a human race. He came to show us how to become the human family of God...

Or to say it another way. Max Lucado who's a Christian writer says "God loves you just the way you are, but he [doesn't intend] to leave you that way."Jesus came to change the world and to change us from the nightmare that life can often be to the dream that God has intended from before the earth and world was ever made.

The Rt. Rev. Michael Curry, who will be installed as the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church on Sunday, November 1.

The installation will be live webcast, you can watch it HERE.

Coming This Week
ON SUNDAY:   FOR ALL THE SAINTS

On November 1st we will celebrate All Saints Day, and this year we'll be invited to experience another way of remembering and honoring our own dear departed ones.
The Day of the Dead is celebrated in the Hispanic Southwest as a time when living and dead family members and friends may be joined together in communion and spiritual regeneration. After the services on November 1st, in Memorial Hall there will be a time to listen and tell stories of our "saints" who have gone on before us. Bring a picture of one who has been important to you in your life, and share their image and story around a table. Drinks and Pan de Muerto will be served.

You can bring pictures to church on Sunday  (with your names on the back)  and they will be gathered in the church windows where they will be a visual reminder that we are surrounded by this great cloud of witnesses as we celebrate the Feast of All the Saints.
Are you on the worship ministry schedule for this weekend?  Check here.

It's not too late to pledge!   Please think and pray about how you can be part of God's generosity in your pledging

Parting Thought
A prayer for Sunday's installation and our new presiding bishop

From "Listen, Lord: A Prayer"
by James Weldon Johnson

And now, O Lord, this man of God,
Who breaks the bread of life this morning--
Shadow him in the hollow of Thy hand,
And keep him out of the gunshot of the devil.
Take him, Lord--this morning--
Wash him with hyssop inside and out,
Hang him up and drain him dry of sin.
Pin his ear to the wisdom-post,
And make his words sledge hammers of truth--
Beating on the iron heart of sin.
Lord God, this morning--
Put his eye to the telescope of eternity,
And let him look upon the paper walls of time.
Lord, turpentine his imagination,
Put perpetual motion in his arms,
Fill him full of the dynamite of Thy power,
Anoint him all over with the oil of Thy salvation,
And set his tongue on fire.
