Readings [We are using Track 2 of the indicated readings.]
Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Reflection
All over this magnificent world God calls us to extend His kingdom of shalom - peace and wholeness - of justice, of goodness, of compassion, of caring, of sharing, of laughter, of joy, of reconciliation. God is transfiguring the world right this very moment through us because God believes in us and because God loves us. What can separate us from the love of God? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. And as we share God's love with our brothers and sisters, God's other children, there is no tyrant who can resist us, no opposition that cannot be ended, no hunger that cannot be fed, no wound that cannot be healed, no hatred that cannot be turned into love, no dream that cannot be fulfilled.
Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart [and especially the hearts of the people of this land], that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Book of Common Prayer

Fun(d)Raiser: Burger Throw Down and Outdoor Movie (6:30pm)
Come to Grace for a fun evening of burger tasting and a movie! Grace grillers will be vying for the best slider-size burger -- you get to taste and decide who wins the throw down! Side dishes, corn on the cob, watermelon, and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. A movie will follow in the garden. Rain location is Memorial Hall. Tickets are $10.00/adults and $7.50/children under 12. Proceeds will be split 50% to Grace and 50% to the Sally Seiler Amazing Grace Circus Scholarship Fund.
If you're planning to attend the Burger Throw Down and Movie in the garden and have not reserved and paid for tickets, please do so no later then Tuesday. Burger makers need to know how many burgers to make in order to avoid food waste. If you can not make it to church on Sunday, stop by the office on Tuesday and leave your name and money with Thayer. The original movie planned for afterwards in the garden was recommended as suitable for 8-year olds, but since it appears that not many 8-year olds will be coming, a movie more suitable for an adult audience will be substituted.

Parting Thought
To the Light of September BY W. S. MERWIN
When you are already here you appear to be only a name that tells of you whether you are present or not
and for now it seems as though you are still summer still the high familiar endless summer yet with a glint of bronze in the chill mornings and the late yellow petals of the mullein fluttering on the stalks that lean over their broken shadows across the cracked ground
but they all know that you have come the seed heads of the sage the whispering birds with nowhere to hide you to keep you for later
you who fly with them
you who are neither before nor after you who arrive with blue plums that have fallen through the night
perfect in the dew
