Readings [We are using Track 2 of the indicated readings.]
COLLECT OF THE DAY O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Reflection
It's funny: I always imagined when I was a kid that adults had some kind of inner toolbox, full of shiny tools: the saw of discernment, the hammer of wisdom, the sandpaper of patience. But then when I grew up I found that life handed you these rusty bent old tools - friendships, prayer, conscience, honesty - and said, Do the best you can with these, they will have to do. And mostly, against all odds, they're enough.

COMING IN SEPTEMBER FROM THE ADULT SPIRITUAL FORMATION COMMISSION
The Invisible Disciples:
The Women in the Gospels
Was the role of women in the ministry of Jesus suppressed in the Gospels?
Following a simple meal of soup and salad, we will examine the biblical texts together and explore some intriguing possibilities:
How many disciples were there?
Were any of the disciples women?
Who was at the foot of the cross?
Who saw the empty tomb?
Who told the stories that became the gospels?
The theme of the evening will be that, in the decades following the resurrection, both men and women told the stories that formed the oral tradition that, 50 years later, informed the gospels. The persons who told the stories are the persons who are named in the stories. That's why their names were remembered. These persons certainly included Peter, James and John. But, also significant in forming the tradition were the sisters Mary and Martha, Magdalene, Susan, Salome, Joanna and Mary of Clopas.
Pat Reynolds will be leading the discussion.
Mark your calendars!

LET'S CELEBRATE SALLY!
After 35 years, Sally Seiler has retired from her job as South Nyack Village Clerk!
As a longtime member of Grace Church, Sally has done just about everything a person can do at this church...and done it well and enthusiastically. Sally is also one of Amazing Grace CIRCUS!'s original three Board Members since 2004. In her honor, The Sally Seiler Circus Camp Scholarship Fund is being established to help families in our local area make a camp experience possible for their children. What an AMAZING way to honor Sally's great work in this community.
Sally will be honored with a Community Party in Franklin Park, South Nyack,on July 26 and AGC! will be there to present details of the scholarship in her name and a card including all the names of those who have contributed to date.
If you're interested in participating in growing the scholarship fund in her honor, please make a check out to Amazing Grace CIRCUS! and memo: Sally Seiler Scholarship Fund - you can drop it by the church office, or in the plate on Sunday - where you'll find more details as well as offering envelopes to use for your donation. We hope this will make her soooo happy...and she deserves it!

IT'S NOT TOO LATE! Kids out of school? It's not too late to give them a summer-full of great circus experiences! Check out Amazing Grace Circus Camp, running right here at Grace Church through August 7. Amazing skills, confidence building, and FUN, with a fabulous Showcase of Talents at the end of each two-week session.
DIAPERS/FORMULA NEEDED A member of the community with several young disabled grandchildren could use some help with donations of Similac formula and diapers (size small and large). If you're able to help, donations can be left at the entry to the church on Sundays, or brought to the office.
Parting Thought
Dolphins
Happy, they leap Out of the surface Of waves reflecting The sun fragmented To broken glass By the stiff breeze Across our bows.
Curving, they draw Curlicues And serifs with Lashed tail and fin Across the screen Of blue horizon - Images Of their delight Outside, displaying My heart within.
Across this dazzling Mediterranean August morning The dolphins write such Ideograms: With power to wake Me prisoned in My human speech They sign: 'I AM!'
