Readings [We are using Track 2 of the indicated readings.]
O God, who on this day taught the hearts of your faithful people by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit: Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Reflection
Frederick Buechner, some years ago, wrote:
Does the Spirit of God move over the face of the turbulent waters of our age? The Hebrew word for "move," merahepeth, means to "brood" as a bird broods over its nest until finally new life begins to stir beneath the sheltering wings. Is new life stirring in this death-ridden world? Is light about to be created out of our darkness? This is the only question that matters.

CALL HOME
Parishioner Candice Boyle is spearheading an effort to provide those serving in the military with calling cards to help them stay in touch with family when they are deployed overseas. The cards are purchased at a discount from West Point, and then sent directly to troops overseas. If you'd like to help, write a check or money or to New York Veterans, and send it to Soldiers Call Home, c/o Rivertown Magazine, 5 Edge Water Lane, Haverstraw, NY 19827. Cards may also be purchased by calling 800-527-2345 or going to aafes.org or att.com/military and clicking on "Help our troops call home." 100% of your gift is tax deductible.
Parting Thought
A Gift by Denise Levertov
Just when you seem to yourself nothing but a flimsy web of questions, you are given the questions of others to hold in the emptiness of your hands, songbird eggs that can still hatch if you keep them warm, butterflies opening and closing themselves in your cupped palms, trusting you not to injure their scintillant fur, their dust. You are given the questions of others as if they were answers to all you ask. Yes, perhaps this gift is your answer.
