COLLECT OF THE DAY
Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Reflection

The Gift of God's Presence

"If we are to love our neighbors, before doing anything else we must see our neighbors. With our imagination as well as our eyes, that is to say like artists, we must see not just their faces but the life behind and within their faces. Here it is love that is the frame we see them in."

Announcements  & Reminders
THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON: CHORAL EVENSONG & ORGAN RECITAL
Sunday May 3 at 4:00pm

Don't miss the final "First at Four" Choral Evensong - your last chance until October. The Grace Choir leads the traditional Anglican service with music, evening prayers, and meditation from Father Owen.  Did you know that Grace is one of only a few parish churches that regularly offers Choral Evensong?  Following Evensong, former Organist-Choirmaster John Bate will present a 30-minute recital (rescheduled from March 1).  And as an added bonus (and for a chance to chat with John) there will a reception following Evensong and the recital.  All are welcome!

CONGRATULATIONS!
At the 9:30am service on Sunday we will recognize Isabelle Anders, Connor Bierfeldt, Alex Cathcart, Regan Cathcart, Tess Cathcart, and Blake White for their hard work and dedication in completing our Understanding the Holy Eucharist curriculum.

NEXT WEEK: EPISCOPAL CHARITIES SUNDAY

Episcopal Charities is the outreach arm of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, supporting parish-based outreach programs that provide assistance and opportunities to children and adults in need. Since its founding in 1996, Episcopal Charities has granted more than $12 million to grassroots programs serving New Yorkers in need. During 2015 Episcopal Charities is providing funding and operational support to 50 parish-sponsored feeding programs in the area. On Mother's Day we celebrate Episcopal Charities Sunday with a special offering to help reduce the impact of hunger on our neighbors in the diocese. You'll find special offering envelopes at the entrance of the church. Please take one and give generously. Envelopes may be returned with the offering this week or next, or to the office during the week. Checks should be made out to Episcopal Charities.

CELEBRATE!

Brandon Beachamp and Doug Reisinger will celebrate their marriage here on Saturday, May 16 at 11:00am and have offered an invitation to the entire Grace Church parish to join the occasion. Following the ceremony, Brandon and Doug are inviting all to a festive reception in the garden.  They hope that you will join them in this exciting moment in their lives and in the life of our parish. To help with planning, if are going to attend and have not yet let them know, please send an email to bbeachamp@gracechurchnyack.org.

The Good News

They don't publish
the good news.
The good news is published
by us.
We have a special edition every moment,
and we need you to read it.
The good news is that you are alive,
and the linden tree is still there,
standing firm in the harsh Winter.
The good news is that you have wonderful eyes
to touch the blue sky.
The good news is that your child is there before you,
and your arms are available:
hugging is possible.
They only print what is wrong.
Look at each of our special editions.
We always offer the things that are not wrong.
We want you to benefit from them
and help protect them.
The dandelion is there by the sidewalk,
smiling its wondrous smile,
singing the song of eternity.
Listen! You have ears that can hear it.
Bow your head.
Listen to it.
Leave behind the world of sorrow
and preoccupation
and get free.
The latest good news

is that you can do it.
