COLLECT OF THE DAY
Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Reflection

"We are all under the same mental calamity; we have all forgotten our names. We have all forgotten what we really are. All that we call common sense and rationality and practicality and positivism only means that for certain dead levels of our life we forget that we have forgotten. All that we call spirit and art and ecstasy only means that for one awful instant we remember that we forget."

- G. K. Chesterton

Are you relatively new to the Grace Church community? Perhaps you've been coming for awhile but are wondering how to become more involved, or have questions about who does what, or what goes on here beyond the Sunday services.  The New Member Ministry commission is hosting a welcome brunch and coffee for those who wish to find out more about Grace and meet some of the parish leadership. The informal gathering runs from10:15am to 1:00pm at the rectory (the corner of First and Franklin, on the other side of the memorial garden) and you're welcome to stop by anytime. Please give us a call at 845-358-1297 or email parishoffice@gracechurchnyack.org - We look forward to meeting you

CHURCH SCHOOL LENTEN GIVING PROJECT
Throughout Lent the church school will be raising money for Episcopal Relief and Development's Gifts for Life in various ways including hosting bake sales following the 9:30am service. Even if you do not have a child in church school, you're more than welcome to contribute to this great cause. Come buy some baked goods at one of our bake sales or make a donation. To donate, look for our donation box in the narthex or contact Lainie Murrell.

USHERS NEEDED

Ushers play an important part in making all of our worship services go smoothly, particularly at our 11:00am service where they are the first to welcome, help with seating, conduct the offering, and direct the congregation at communion. We need new recruits to help fill out the ranks of this important team - it you are interested in serving in this vital position, please let Kickie Fulmor or Fr. Owen know.

FLOWERS FOR PEACE - Saturday, March 14 11:00am to 3:00pm

Parting Thought
Empty me of the bitterness and disappointment
of being nothing but myself
Immerse me in the mystery of reality
Fill me with love for the truly afflicted
that hopeless love, if need be
make me one of them again -
Awaken me to the reality of this place
and from the longed-for or remembered place
And more than this, behind each face
induct, oh introduce me in -
to the halting disturbed ungrammatical soundless
words of others' thoughts
not the drivel coming out of our mouths
Blot me out, fill me with nothing but consciousness
of the holiness, the meaning
of these unseeable, all
these unvisitable worlds which surround me:
others' actual thoughts - everything
I can't perceive yet
know

know it is there.
