Our series of Advent Home Gatherings begin on Tuesday - Join us!

COLLECT OF DAY
Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We Suspect Angels and Disbelieve Good News
We suspect angels
And disbelieve good news
Ah God, who will save us?
Our cynicism is the fruit of our experience
Not the key to the future
Our suspiciousness helps us to smell the rat
Never to recognise the dove.
Our perfect analysis may describe the mountain
But it is powerless to move it.
It is with little pride we must confess:
We suspect angels
And disbelieve good news.
As Christmas approaches,
Give us a share of that divine naivete
Enjoyed by Elizabeth and Zechariah, Mary and Joseph
And unnamed country folk,
Who encountered angels,
And believed Good News
And recognised Christ coming among them.
Amen

PREPPING THE CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS....AND BEYOND
Starting on Saturday, December 6, we're gathering a team of "First Saturday" cleaning angels to give special loving attention to the church by taking on tasks that are beyond the scope of our routine cleaning, like dusting the woodwork or polishing the pews, as well as special seasonal preparations. Everyone is welcome to be a part of the team, which will meet the first Saturday of each month from 9:30 to noon. Come for all or part of the time - we'll finish up with light refreshments.

That Passeth All Understanding An awe so quiet
I don't know when it began.
A gratitude
had begun
Was there
some moment
dividing
song from no song?
When does dewfall begin?
When does night
fold its arms over our hearts
to cherish them?
When is daybreak?
