Collect of the Day
Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Reflection

God's call, vocation, is twofold. God calls us saying, 'Come, follow me.' We arrive and then we must follow. We find but must go on seeking. God's call is a never-ending call, to the unknown, to adventure, to follow him in the night, in solitude. It is a call incessantly to go further, and further. For it is not static but dynamic (as creation also is dynamic) and reaching him means going on and on. God's call is like the call to become an explorer; it is an invitation to adventure.

CHURCH SCHOOL LENT GIVING PROGRAM

BAKE SALE ON SUNDAY

This year during Lent the church school is raising money for People to People, Rockland's largest food pantry.   In addition to collecting change at home, they'll be hosting  bake sales during coffee hour between the 9:30am and 11:00am services, so make sure to come hungry and prepared each week!  Check out the delicious treats at the Bake Sale in Memorial Hall on Sunday,  hosted by the 2nd & 3rd grade classes.

READERS WANTED

Have you ever wondered about serving as a lector - reading one of the lessons at either the 8:00am and 11:00am services? How about serving as a chalice bearer - helping to distribute the wine during communion at the 9:30am service?  If so, please be in touch with Kickie Fulmor, and let her know your availability and preferred service times (lexow2@yahoo.com) - she'll fill you in on all you need to know to serve.

If you'd like to know more, there will be a very brief training session for 9:30am chalice bearers at 10:15am this Sunday.   Can't make it Sunday? If so, just let Kickie know and she'll work with you to find another time.

Announcements

FIRST AT FOUR: Choral Evensong on Sunday,  April 6

On the first Sunday of each month the Grace Choir leads the traditional Anglican service of sung evening prayer with hymns, canticles, and anthems.   Rooted in the monastic tradition, Evensong is a unique offering of the Episcopal Church.  Across the world, people revel in the service's simplicity, beauty, and stillness at the close of the day.  On Sunday, April 6 the clergy and choir mark the feast day of Martin Luther King, Jr., who was assassinated on April 4, 1968.  Join us in the sacred stillness of the church for a peaceful interlude of quiet reflection.

EASTER FAIR ON SUNDAY, APRIL 6

The Senior Youth Group will again host our annual Easter Fair featuring games, crafts, a bake sale and an Easter Basket raffle all to help raise funds for the 2014 Church Youth Service Mission to Nicaragua.  Be sure to stop by and get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny!

WHY LORD!?  Human Suffering & A Loving God

LENTEN PROGRAM

The Adult Spiritual Formation commission just wrapped up a wonderful and well-attended series of discussions for the Lenten program: Human Suffering and a Loving God. We added a sung compline to close each evening, with many thanks to Ron Hammond for his help. Our thanks  to the cooks - Emily, Jennifer, Claudia, Pat, Diane, Moriah and Kris - who provided yummy food all around, and to Julia for her superlative kitchen support. Thank you to Fr. Owen for letting us dip just a toe into such a complex and challenging topic.   Kickie Fulmor
Chair,  Adult Spiritual Formation Commission

Parting Thought

LOAVES AND FISHES

This is not the age of information
This is not
the age of information

Forget the news
and the radio
and the blurred screen.

This is the time
of loaves
and fishes.

People are hungry
And one good word is bread
for a thousand.
