The Twenty-Sixth Sunday After Pentecost - November 17, 2013
Collect of the Day

Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Reflection

We hear a lot about evangelism today and how the church must pay more attention to evangelism. But mostly evangelism is not what we tell people, unless what we tell is totally consistent with who we are. It is who we are that is going to make the difference. It is who we are that is going to show the love that brought us all into being, that cares for us all, now, and forever. If we do not have love in our hearts, our words of love will have little meaning. If we do not truly enjoy our faith, nobody is going to catch the fire of enjoyment from us. If our lives are not totally centered on Christ, we will not be Christ-bearers for others, no matter how pious our words. Madeleine L'Engle, quoted in  Glimpses of Grace, Daily Thoughts and Reflections

Parishioner News

Do you have news you'd like to share with the parish family?  This is the place for it.
Parishioner Candice Boyle is participating in a fundraising effort to supply prepaid phone cards to our troops overseas during the holidays.   Here is the information from her:

PLEASE REMEMBER OUR TROOPS

Our brave young soldiers are risking their lives and limbs protecting our freedom.

They deserve and need to be remembered especially during the Christmas Season. Donations, in any amount, are deeply appreciated by our troops.   100% of your donation goes directly to the purchase of the calling cards which are purchased at West Point at a discount and sent by the Veterans Administration free of charge to our soldiers. Please make your check payable to New York Vets and leave it in the church office or send it to Candice Boyle-Bunton  5 Edge Water Lane, NY. 10927  (by 12/1) or see Candice after church.

Thank you for your generosity.  Candice A. Boyle

Parting Thought

That Passeth All Understanding

An awe so quiet
I don't know when it began.

A gratitude
had begun
to sing in me.

Was there
some moment
dividing
song from no song?

When does dewfall begin?

When does night
fold its arms over our hearts
to cherish them?

When is daybreak?
