Tenth Sunday of Pentecost - July 28, 2013
Collect of the Day

O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Reflection

O God of miracles and multiplications ... at your invitation we dare to measure ourselves not by our fears or failures or frailities, however large they seem, but by our hope and faith and love, however small they may be. So we pray that by your grace we in our boldness will become miracles of leaven in the lump of this world. Multiply our courage that we may be a source of life and justice and peace for those we carry in our hearts and on our consciences. Multiply our faith in you that all our struggles, all our joys will be steps taken toward what it means to be human, to be sisters and brothers, and to be yours.

Interested in singing with the choir but are unsure of what it's all about?

Want a chance to keep your musical skills sharp during the Dog Days?
Curious about the view from the Choir Loft?

If so, there are three remaining opportunities to sing with the Summer Choir between now and September: This Sunday, July 28, August 11, August 25 (the second and fourth Sundays of the month). Rehearsals are the same day at
9:15am in the Choir Room.  The Summer Choir sits in the pews for the service and comes up to the organ (or over to the piano) at the offering.  It's a perfect opportunity for families & young adults to make music!  For more information, please contact Brandon Beachamp, Interim Organist & Choirmaster.

ADULT SPIRITUAL FORMATION BOOK GROUP MAKES FALL SELECTION

The Adult Spiritual Education and Formation Book Group recently voted to read this fascinating memoir of a near-death experience for its first meeting in September. New members are always welcome to join this informal group.  For information or to weigh in on meeting times, please contact group leader Jennifer Hausler at jhausler@optonline.net.

SUMMERTIME AND THE LIVING IS EASY

All too easy to miss a pledge payment ....or two

Why Not Consider E-pledging?

Through the Diocese of New York, we participate in a program that makes it possible for pledge payments to be made to us automatically, via an electronic transfer from your bank account.  You determine payment schedule, and we both receive records of payments.   It's a win-win situation all around.  If you'd like information, look for brochure in the narthex, or  email us and we'd be happy to send it out to you.

PEOPLE TO PEOPLE ALWAYS NEEDS DONATIONS
With summer travel schedules kicking in, the shelves are practically bare over at People to People's food bank.  PLEASE, remember to bring your donations to church every week. Here's a link to more.

Parting Thought

We are not very good at recognizing illusions, least of all the ones we cherish about ourselves.
