Ninth Sunday of Pentecost - July 21, 2013
Collect of the Day

Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Reflection

I can set a little altar, in the world or in my heart. I can stop what I am doing long enough to see where I am, who I am there with, and how awesome the place is.... Human beings may separate things into as many piles as we wish--separating spirit from flesh, sacred from secular, church from world. But we should not be surprised when God does not recognize the distinctions we make between the two. Earth is so thick with divine possibility that it is a wonder we can walk anywhere without cracking our shins on altars.

Curious about the view from the Choir Loft?

If so, there are three remaining opportunities to sing with the Summer Choir between now and September: Sunday, July 28, August 11, August 25 (the second and fourth Sundays of the month). Rehearsals are the same day at
9:15am in the Choir Room.  The Summer Choir sits in the pews for the service and comes up to the organ (or over to the piano) at the offering.  It's a perfect opportunity for families & young adults to make music!  For more information, please contact Brandon Beachamp, Interim Organist & Choirmaster.

ADULT SPIRITUAL FORMATION BOOK GROUP MAKES FALL SELECTION

The Adult Spiritual Education and Formation Book Group recently voted to read this fascinating memoir of a near-death experience for its first meeting in September. New members are always welcome to join this informal group.  For information or to weigh in on meeting times, please contact group leader Jennifer Hausler at jhausler@optonline.net.

SUMMERTIME AND THE LIVING IS EASY

All too easy to miss a pledge payment ....or two

Why Not Consider E-pledging?

Through the Diocese of New York, we participate in a program that makes it possible for pledge payments to be made to us automatically, via an electronic transfer from your bank account.  You determine payment schedule, and we both receive records of payments.   It's a win-win situation all around.  If you'd like information, look for brochure in the narthex, or  email us and we'd be happy to send it out to you.

PEOPLE TO PEOPLE ALWAYS NEEDS DONATIONS
With summer travel schedules kicking in, the shelves are practically bare over at People to People's food bank.  PLEASE, remember to bring your donations to church every week. Here's a link to more.

Parting Thought

The man who has many answers
is often found
in the theaters of information
where he offers, graciously,

his deep findings.

While the man who has only questions,

to comfort himself, makes music.
