Collect of the Day

O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Reflection

I would say about individuals, an individual dies when he ceases to be surprised.
I am surprised every morning that I see the sunshine again.
When I see an act of evil, I'm not accommodated.
I don't accommodate myself to the violence that goes on everywhere; I'm still surprised.

That's why I'm against it, why I can hope against it. We must learn how to be surprised.
Not to adjust ourselves. I am the most maladjusted person in society.

SUMMERTIME AND THE LIVING IS EASY

All too easy to miss a pledge payment ....or two

Why Not Consider E-pledging?

Through the Diocese of New York, we participate in a program that makes it possible for pledge payments to be made to us automatically, via an electronic transfer from your bank account.  You determine payment schedule, and we both receive records of payments.   It's a win-win situation all around.  If you'd like information, look for brochure in the narthex, or  email us and we'd be happy to send it out to you.

It's 1871. Wealthy Englishman James Watson's world is shattered by his mother's death and the revelation that he is adopted and Irish. Discovering his birth mother lives in America, he travels there on an epic journey to find his true identity. Sweeping melodies with Irish flavor carry this dynamic tale.

Parting Thought

Brotherhood

.....Homage to Claudius Ptolemy

I am a man: little do I last

and the night is enormous.

But I look up:

The stars write.

Unknowing I understand:

I too am written,

and at this very moment

someone spells me out.
