Well Hello There!
It is my absolute pleasure to be typing to you this already sunny morning from my almost fully unpacked home in the upcountry of Maui....
Hi.
I had a very easy and quick trip over here and was met with a beautiful Lei and a big truck...and of course stopped at Costco before anything else...and honestly since then I've just been staring at the ocean and pinching myself.
I have one more day to acclimate, then off to Lumeria to see about this new job. It seems I'm the only one who wanted the outdoor rooms...so there is one more step of ease for me.
These rooms are at the back of the property looking through jungle to the ocean...and the downside I guess is that I have to load up the table and all my goods and take them out there and back when I'm done on a cart...but they don't know I've perfected the art of moving...now do they?
I must admit I woke up at 2am yesterday and for the life of me could not convince myself that it wasn't five...darkness and all...but today....it seems I will be able to stop pinching myself and realize I'm actually here.
Funny thing about dreams that come true...when you are used to having them, it takes a moment for their corporeal-ness to steady.
You know?
So. I am living on a property with a dog and four cats and chickens and goats...and my dog will be joining the mix in 5 weeks. There are two kids...to start...but they always seem to multiply by evening and people milling about and I tell you...I really feel at home.
I can't say I believe it fully yet....but my being, my heart....they feel quiet.
We are trying to get to my mind....but I'm also a generous host and will give her a little more time to sort this whole life change business out.
Everyone says it takes between 3-6 months to realize you really want to be here on the island.
Ha. I'm going to do it in 1. You just wait.
As soon as Max Weinberg gets here and we start paddle boarding...I'm pretty sure my mind will have made itself up.
So this is a very happy hello from Upcountry Maui...I'll have more photos next month and of course they will be on my blog and facebook much sooner than that if you are interested. (By the way, I have a new
website, please check it out and let me know what you think!)
But until then...happy June sweet friends!
