Saint Mark's Episcopal Cathedral Certified as a "Green Sanctuary"In June 2013, Saint Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, became the first cathedral and first west-coast Episcopal parish to achieve certification as a Green Faith Sanctuary for religious environmental leadership by GreenFaith, an organization that aims to inspire, educate and mobilize people of diverse religious backgrounds for environmental leadership. Guided by a specially formed task force, certification began with a two-year awareness and advocacy process involving sustainability education, leadership training, and worship services that celebrated creation themes.Saint Mark's Cathedral also improved their facility to lessen its impact on the earth. You may notice a new bike rack, "No Idling" signs, an organic garden, the Saint Mark's Greenbelt, and a green acreage restoration project in cooperation with the city of Seattle. Additionally, the congregation of Saint Mark is developing an ongoing relationship with the Duwamish Tribe and others who are impacted by the pollution of the Duwamish Waterway. More
