Capitol Hill: At the Heart of Art
It comes as no surprise to Capitol Hill denizens that we live and work in a neighborhood that loves Art. But now we have quantifiable proof. ArtPlace, a coalition of arts foundations and organizations have named us as one of the best 12 Art neighborhoods in the country!
Art is good for the soul but it is also good for the community and good for business. Art invigorates neighborhoods, creates vibrant placemaking, supports a local economy and revitalizes communities - which is why the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce proudly produces the monthly Blitz Arts Walk and continues to support all manner of art projects in our arty neighborhood. The light box Art on Broadway (supported by Broadway business owners and the Broadway Business Improvement Association), the continuing, rotating Art on display on the Sound Transit construction Red Wall, involving local creative artist in our events like Hilloween and the Independence Day Picnic at Cal Anderson Park are all a way of creating energy and delight in our business community.
This seems a good time to remind all of you that participation in the Blitz Arts Walk is free to Capitol Hill Chamber members. Blitz is a great way to connect with the local arts community, bring customers into your place of business and be a part of this great art loving neighborhood. Feel free to contact us at the Chamber office for more information on Blitz or visit the Blitz website.
From the study: "Each community has a particular story to tell, but they share a common theme: when a community mobilizes to place the arts at the core of a set of strategies to effect positive civic change, everyone benefits."
We couldn't agree more.
