Over the span of the nearly two month long Annual Giving Campaign for the 2012-2013 school year, the Scholars Academy community has achieved some impressive goals.

• 100% participation by our Board of Directors
• 98% participation by our faculty and staff
• Over 91% participation by our current families
• 7 Homerooms achieved 100% family participation:

There is a lot to be proud of this year. Your participation is a direct reflection of your support of the school's mission to provide the greatest possible educational experience to our gifted students. During a year of change, this participation is invaluable and is appreciated.

Overall, we were able to raise $530,807 in pledges and outright gifts. This is 82% of the original goal of $650,000. That goal was chosen by the Board of Directors during the July Board meeting, when the annual operating budget was forecasted and voted upon. This number was calculated based on the anticipated need for the school to maintain a balanced budget with our current program, as is.

Because the fundraising goal has not yet been met, the Board of Directors will be addressing the budget at the coming November Board Meeting, during which action will be taken to correct and rebalance the budget.

It is important to note that there is no shortage of great ideas and possible programmatic initiatives that would undoubtedly enhance the Scholars Academy experience for our students and families. Unfortunately, these will all be tabled until we can balance the budget for our core program.

Over the coming months, the Development office, administration, and a group of volunteers will also be seeking out new sources of revenue in the Charlotte community. Unquestionably, our 91% family participation will give us an edge in demonstrating the base of support that our students at Scholars Academy receive. However, corporate and foundational support is very often designated solely to specific initiatives and tends to be inconsistent. That is why our Annual Giving Campaign is so important to our success each year. There is no one that cares more, or is more invested in our students' futures, than you.

Though our active Campaign period has come to a close, fundraising for the school is a year-round undertaking, and donations and pledge payments will be accepted through June 1, 2013. For more information, please visit the Giving pages of the school's website.
