FRESHMAN FORMATION WEEKEND

Two hundred and forty incoming students were welcomed into the Servite family at the 10th annual Freshman Formation Weekend July 25 -27th. Formation Director Larry Toner and Director of Leadership Programs Chris Weir '97 coordinated the weekend. Students were involved in physical, spiritual, academic, and team-building exercises that introduced them to finding "Who God called them to be." Students were organized into priories they will be in for their four years at Servite to begin experiencing the Servite brotherhood. 

ALUMNI NETWORKING SOCIAL

The first Alumni Networking Social will be August 12, 5:30- 7:30 pm at the Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton thanks to Bruce McDonald '73. Alumni involved in the reestablishment of the Servite Alumni Association have expressed a high priority for getting Servite grads who own their own businesses or are in management positions of publicly-held or privately-owned businesses, together for the mutual benefit of all. 2014 Reunions

 

Alumni reunion committees are being formed for the following classes:

1964 (50th) [1st five graduating classes combined reunion with classes of 1962 thru 1966]. Meeting at Servite for dinner and social, October 16, 6:30pm.

1974 (40th) September 13th at the home of Mike and Leslie Echolds in Murrieta, CA. Dennis Sandoval, Joe Truxaw, Chris Gray, Mike Quinones, Mike Echolds, Pete Stang, are planning committee. Flyer invite in circulation. 

1984 (30th) October 5, 6 pm, Newport Beach Tennis Club. Joe Sullivan organizing.

1989 (25th) held July 18 at Doubletree Suites in Anaheim.

Thursday, October 15, Servite Quad @ 6:30 pm:

Servite Alumni Association will host dinner and refreshments on campus. All alumni are invited.  We will honored the 1964 Football Team, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Servite's first victory over Mater Dei. There will be a tribute to former football  Coach George Dena, creator of the 'Hut Drill.' 

 

Friday, October 17, 7:00 pm:

Servite v Mater Dei football game. There will be a Servite Alumni Association section at the game.

 

Sunday, October 19, 2014, Servite High School @ 10:00 am:

Alumni Mass in honor of all deceased alumni of Servite High School, followed by a brunch and campus tours hosted by the Alumni Association.

The Frank Rivera Iron Man Trust presents an evening with "Men at Work's" Colin Hay Saturday, September 6th in the Servite Theatre. Click here to sponsor the event or purchase VIP tickets.

SERVITE V. DE LA SALLE GAME SOCIAL

  

Servite will play national football powerhouse De La Salle September 27 in Concord, CA. We are scheduling an alumni social prior to the game, starting at 4 pm. Ticket information will be posted on the website at www.servitehs.org/athletics when it becomes available.

REAL ESTATE PLANNING FORUM & DINNER

The Servite Legacy Advisory Board is hosting a dinner and planning forum for alumni on "Real Estate as an Asset in Estate Planning," September 18 at the Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton, 5:30 pm social; 6:30 - 8 pm program.


 

Presenters include expert real estate appraiser, John Aust, and Greg Weiler of Palmieri, Tyler, Wiener, Wilhelm Law Firm. This will be a highly informative presentation that includes delicious complimentary dinner and refreshments thanks to Bruce McDonald '73.

By attending, you will receive an overview about:

  • Transferring real estate to heirs on a tax-favored basis
  • Calculating discounts for reducing taxable estate
  • Asset protection
  • Ways to avoid erosion of property value
  • Tax-favored real estate trusts (CRTs, QPRTs, GRATs, CLTs)

FASHION SHOW IS LOOKING FOR VINTAGE SPIRIT SHIRTS

Mike Anderson '63

retired from Farmers Insurance in 2008 and started an insurance consulting business.  He enjoys hunting turkey, deer and elk with his 15 year old son and following Angels baseball.


Joe Angelo '63
practices law at Angelo & White in Newport Beach specializing in Business and Divorce Law. He is also the owner of the Stuft Surfer Café on 15th Street in Newport.


 

Doug Campbell '63  is retired after 25 years with New York Life. He was a Standards and Compliance Officer for 11 western states.  


 


 

Vince Carella'63 serves on the Board of Directors for the International Children's' Aid Network (ican) and is helping to build an orphanage in South Africa.


 

 

Rick Crog '63 and Tom De Hart '63 want everyone to know they are still alive. Close friends since Rick "sat  in front of me for four years" at Servite, they have lived within 10 miles of each other for most of their lives and are retired "or just tired."


 

Jim EnEarl '63 has retired from  three jobs: Orange County Sheriff, Douglas County Sheriff and judge.  However, he retains a contractor's license so is not fully retired yet!


 

Although he retired from Canyon High School in Anaheim after 33 years as a teacher, coach and athletic director, Harper Ephrom '63 hasn't slowed down. After working part-time at Disneyland for 35 years, he now works full-time at the Happiest Place on Earth.


 

Ken Euske '63 is a Professor of Accounting at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey.  He enjoys watching the sea otters in Monterrey Bay.


 


 

After 26 years in the Air Force, Conrad Neumann '63 is enjoying retirement playing Mr. Mom while his wife is at work. They enjoy traveling to visit the kids and high school friends in Arizona.

 

Keith Smith '63 opened a company that manufactures string stretching devices for musical instruments.  Located in Ventura, String Stretcha is a global company that recently celebrated its 5th Anniversary.


 

Hans Tromp '63 is a retired Sales Manager for Wyeth Labs living in Arizona.  He and his wife will soon celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary. Hans keeps busy with his six grandchildren who live nearby.


 

Don Van Handel '63 has a black belt in Ken Po and has been teaching it since 1984. He is a member of the Cowboy Action Society in New Mexico and participates in old-time Western shootouts, barbeques and dances.


 

Paul Von Berg '63 recently retired after working as a heavy engineering contractor in 22 states. He built the Interstate 70 Eisenhower Tunnel 11,134 ft. above sea level in Colorado. Paul also worked on the original Bart system and even built a few wineries in Napa Valley.


 

Mike Ward '63 moved to Minnesota after retiring as Postmaster in Temecula, CA. He and his wife are renovating an old farm house.

 


Rich Whitehill '63 enjoys golfing now that he has retired after 30 years as a contract manager for Raytheon. Rich's son Christopher graduated from Servite in 1996.
