Baseball
Joe Prior
SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Servite took a 1-2 loss against Mater Dei to open up Trinity League play. Ryan Alsworth threw eight shut out innings. At the end of the 9th, the score was still tied 0-0. It wasn't until the top of the 10th inning that Patrick Flynn doubled from a hard ground ball. Thomas O'Cooney then singled from a line drive to advance Flynn to 3rd. Justin Stream made contact with the bat with an intense line drive to score Flynn. The Friars were up 1-0 against the 3rd ranked team in the county. Mater Dei then felt the urgency to score. The first batter hit a homerun in the 10th inning to tie up the match-up. The game extended to the 11th and Servite couldn't get another run on the board. At the bottom of the 11th Mater Dei scored once more to take the hard fought victory as their own.
SERVITE VS OLU
Servite defeated Orange Lutheran all in the 3rd inning. Conner Starkweather hit a solid double to score Justin Stream. Right after, Joe Prior got a RBI single to score Starkweather. Olu retaliated with a run of their own at the bottom of the 3rd, but no one else scored the rest of the game. The Friars defeated the Lancers 2-1.
SERVITE VS JSERA
The Friars next took on JSerra and defeated them, 6-2 to improve their record to 4-3-1 (2-1 in Trinity). Patrick Flynn was the key to the Friars victory going 2-3 against the Lions. JSerra had a run to open the game scoring, but Servite struck at the bottom of the first with key plays by Flynn and Joshua Steele. In the fifth inning JSerra tried to mend the gap by putting another run on the board but Ryan Alsworth got the Lions out of the inning with no more runs on the board. At the bottom of the sixth Servite put up their final three runs of the match-up. The final scoring started with a Zachary Huarte single that scored Flynn. Flynn also got a single to bring O'Cooney home.

SERVITE VS ST JOHN BOSCO
Servite walked on the field knowing that this was the big one. This game separated them from having a winning record in the Trinity League or becoming the middleman. Both teams had equal competitive advantages, but at the end Servite walked away with the 3-2 win in extra innings. The Braves had five hits while the Friars only had four but ended up leaving 11 runners on bases at the end of the day. Justin Stream had a MVP kind of day, as he doubled in the third inning and homered in the fifth. Connor Moore and Vince Garcia ultimately out pitched the Braves and led the Friars to a 3-1 record in Trinity and 5-3-1 record overall.

SERVITE VS WILSONVILLE Game 1
The Friars struggled in the beginning of the match-up, trailing by as much as 5-0 at the bottom of the second inning. This is when the scoring began for the Friars. Huarte was walked and took the single, then Michael Flynn was walked. Gabriel Teposte singled off of a fly ball. With the bases loaded, Aaron Singh approached the plate and was also walked. This play scored Huarte. Thomas O'Cooney was then hit by a pitch, which scored Flynn. Steele was walked which brought Teposte home. Joe Prior then approached the plate ready to bring more Friars home. He singled to left field with a line drive and scored Singh. Patrick Flynn hit a line drive to score O'Cooney. At the bottom of the second inning the Friars had tied up the game 5-5.
In the third inning Teposte got to second and advanced to third when Singh singled from a hard ground ball. Steele and Prior were walked and Teposte then scored. Flynn hit a double, which scored Singh and Steele. The Friars then led 8-5 going into the 4th inning. No one scored in the 4th inning and it wasn't until the bottom of the 5th inning that Steele and Prior added another two to the board from a Prior homerun. Vince Garcia kept up his stellar pitching, shutting out the Wildcats for over five innings. The Friars had no time to celebrate, as they had to prepare for their second game against the Wildcats.
Game 2
With the bases loaded in the first, Patrick Flynn singled up the middle to knock in the Friars first run. Back to back walks by Jack Baggott and McKay Koissian brought two more across the plate for Servite. A sac fly by Huarte scored another run for the Friars, before Baggott stole home to score the fifth run of the inning for Servite.
The Friars broke the game open in the second, batting through the order and plating 10 runs. Justin Stream and Prior each had two RBIs in the inning, Stream hit a triple and Prior belted a two-run homer over the fence in center field.
Servite added three more to the scoreboard at the bottom of the sixth, when Connor Starkweather doubled to left field. Evan Giacomini and Russell Terry were also credited with RBIs in the inning.
M. Flynn started the game on the mound for Servite keeping Wilsonville scoreless through four while allowing only two hits. Left-hander Andrew Bornhop entered the game for Servite in the fifth and pitched two scoreless innings. Teposte finished the game for the Friars retiring the side in the 7th and completing the shut out over the Wildcats 18-0.

LIONS TOURNAMENT
Servite defeated Bonita High School, 5-1. Servite took an early lead in the first, when Patrick Flynn doubled off of a hard ground ball and scored Josh Steele. In the third inning, Joe Prior hit a homerun (his third in the past three games) and allowed Steele to touch the plate again. At the bottom of the fifth, Steele hammered a line drive to the left field scoring Russell Terry. The last scoring play came from a fly ball from Chris Young that brought in Evan Giacomini. Ryan Alsworth added the win to his record, pitching all seven innings and only allowing one run to pass through in the fifth inning. Later in the night, they took on Salinas High School and took a close 3-5 loss. The Friars brushed off after the loss and prepared to take on Lehi High School. In the first inning, Josh Steele singled from a ground ball. Prior went up next and hit his fourth homerun of the season to give the Friars a 2-0 lead. Phenomenal pitching took over as Michael Flynn (Servite) and Cameron Lux (Lehi) allowed no one to cross the plate through the fourth inning. With two outs in the fourth inning McKay Koissian singled. Chris Young then hit a double and Zachary Huarte hit another double to bring Koissian and Young home.
In the fifth inning, the Friars brought in sophomore pitcher Nigel Ward in for his first varsity appearance. He took the mound with the bases loaded and ended the inning with no Pioneer runs scored. Ward allowed no hits and had three strikeouts for his debut. At the bottom of the fifth inning Steele led off with a double. After that Patrick Flynn hit a sacrifice fly to bring Steele home and take a 5-0 win over the Pioneers. Servite played Soquel High School in the Tournament next. In the first inning, against Soquel, the Friars jumped to take a 6-0 lead over the Knights. Connor Starkweather hit his first homerun of the season to score Young and Andrew Bogard. The rest of the runs came from Steele, Prior and P Flynn. In the second inning, Bogard hit a sacrifice fly to score Prior. Rookie Patrick Faley shut out Soquel in the first three innings. Later in the third inning, Prior hit his fifth homerun of the season, scoring Aaron Singh, Jack Baggott, and Steele to take an 11-0 lead. In the fourth inning, the Knights scored their first run of the ball game with a hard ground ball by Chris Viall who scored Fabiano Hale. The Friars came back with another run of their own in the inning when Giacomini hit a hard ground ball to score Singh. The final score was 12-1 for the Friars in a high scoring game. They played Gardena High School in the final round of the tournament and took a 5-2 loss against Gardena Serra.

SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Varsity Baseball took a tough 7-1 loss to Mater Dei. Ryan Alsworth started on the mound for the Friars and was able to keep the Friars afloat through the second inning. Mater Dei started their scoring trend in the third inning, scoring two runs. Alsworth was able to shut out the Monarchs again in the fourth inning. Justin Stream hit his second homerun of the season to cut the lead to 2-1. The Monarchs scored two runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 4-1. In the sixth inning, Jack McEntee took the mound, and shut out the Monarchs in that inning. At the top of the seventh, Mater Dei sealed their victory adding three more to the board. "To beat the number one team in the nation you have to show up and give it your all," said Head Coach Sears.
SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Servite took a hard lost battle to Mater Dei. Pitcher Zach Huarte was able to keep the game scoreless until the 3rd inning. A questionable call favoring Mater Dei led to a two run inning. Though the Friars came close loading the bases in the 7th inning, they were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

SERVITE VS OLU
Varsity Baseball took a hard loss to the Lancers yesterday in extra innings. Ryan Alsworth took the mound first and pitched four shutout innings. It wasn't until the bottom of the fourth inning that Joe Prior was scored, with a RBI single by Tommy O'Cooney. The following inning, the Lancers sensed the urgency to get on the board and threw up their own run. The game was all tied up until the ninth inning, when the Lancers once again scored. The Friars responded back with a run scored by a RBI single, compliments of Josh Steele. This took the game into the tenth inning, where the Lancers ensured victory with three more runs on the board.
SERVITE VS OLU
After the Friars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, the Lancers battled back to score one in the third and three in the fourth to clinch the victory. A two-out rally from Servite in the second broke the scoreless tie. Michael Flynn reached on an Orange Lutheran error before a single from Chris Young moved him to third. Russell Terry worked a walk to load the bases for Aaron Singh, who ripped a single off the glove of the third baseman to bring in two. The Lancers had their first run in the third, off Servite starter Zachary Huarte to cut the Friars lead in half. Orange Lutheran wasted no time in tying the game and taking the lead in the fourth as two singles brought in three runs. Jack McEntee and Michael Flynn kept Orange Lutheran quiet for the remainder of the game but the damage had already been done. The Friars threatened again in the sixth, loading the bases with only one out but were unable to capitalize when Michael Flynn popped out to the right field and Joe Prior was thrown out at home after tagging up from third. The Friars went down in order in the seventh as the Lancers clinched the win and the top spot in the Trinity League standings.
SERVITE VS JSERRA
Servite was defeated by JSerra on the road, 2-0. The game was completely shut out until the fifth inning. Though the Friars came close throughout the game, they couldn't capitalize on scoring opportunities. In the second inning, the Friars threatened to score but Patrick Flynn was called out at home. This happened again in the sixth inning where two men were left on base and McKay Koissian was called out at home on a questionable call.

The Friars took an early lead in the first inning, when Joe Prior hit a solid line drive to score Aaron Singh.
JSerra didn't retaliate until the top of the third inning, when John Lindegren scored after tagging up. Both teams were quiet until the sixth inning, when Casey Worden of JSerra hit a RBI double to score Chase Strumpf. Emotions were high and the future looked bleak for the Friars as JSerra carried the lead through the seventh inning. At the bottom of the seventh Gabriel Teposte hit an RBI single to score Russell Terry and end regulation in a tie. Extra innings proved successful for the Friars as Justin Stream slammed a ball to the right field scoring Jack Baggott and taking a victory for the Friars. "We play Bosco next week and need your support," said Stream. "We love it!"

Golf
SERVITE VS YORBA LINDA
The Friars were successful in their opening round defeating Yorba Linda, 186-202. The Medalist of the match-up was Tanner Dice. Dice had three birdies to clinch the victory. Sophomore Matt Wilson had a birdie, along with a bogie free round. Dice (35), Wilson (36), Martin Manalo (37), Brian Francke (39), Nick Cantlay (39), Court Lewis (40), and Davis Holman (42) all performed well and helped Servite capture the win.
SERVITE VS ST JOHN BOSCO
The team played against St John Bosco and defeated them 190-221. Davis Holman and Court Lewis were both the medalists of the match scoring 37 a piece. With this victory, Servite improved their record to 2-0.
SERVITE VS JSERRA
The Friars defeated JSerra by a score of 186-205. The medalist of the match was Martin Manalo with a score of 34. Court Lewis (35) and Brandon Brame (37) also helped lead the Friars to a victory. The Friars have improved their record to a flawless 3-0.
SERVITE VS SAN JUAN HILLS
Servite took on San Juan Hills and defeated them 191-211. With this victory they improved their record to 4-0. Martin Manalo and Brian Francke were the match and Servite medalists against San Juan Hills. They led the Friars with two over par at Western Hills.
SERVITE VS LOYOLA Varsity golf improved their record to 5-0. They took on the talented Loyola team and walked away with a 189-206 victory. The match medalist was Brandon Brame shooting a 36. Davis Holman shot a 37, and Martin Manalo had a 38 to help keep the Friars undefeated in their toughly matched preseason.
SERVITE VS OLU
Servite golf improved their record to 7-0 against Orange Lutheran at Coyote Hills. The team shot one over par for the course defeating the Lancers 176-206. Martin Manalo shot a career low of 32, with Brian Francke and Tanner Dice closely following at 35 a piece.
SERVITE VS SANTA MARGARITA
Varsity golf did an outstanding job taking on the tough Santa Margarita squad. Matt Murphy of Santa Margarita was the match medalist with a 36. This didn't stop the Friars from taking the match as a team. Tanner Dice led the Friars with a 37, Martin Manalo had a 39, and Court Lewis, Matt Wilson, and Brandon Brame all had 40 to lead the Friars to a 196-201 victory. SERVITE VS SANTA MARGARITA Servite golf took on Santa Margarita in a heated battle of Trinity League dominance. The last time Servite and Santa Margarita met was at home at Western Hills. The Friars took a close 196-201 win. This time the Friars traveled out to Coto de Caza to try to sweep the Eagles. All five Friars teed in the 30's to lead Servite to a 182-190 cushioned victory. Tanner Dice medaled for the second time this week shooting a one-under-par 35.
SERVITE VS LONG BEACH WILSON
Varsity Golf took on Long Beach Wilson and defeated them 369-384 away. The match medalist was Martin Manalo who shot a 68 (4-below-par) to lead the Friars to a victory. Tanner Dice also shot well with a 74. The Friars are now 11-0 and show no signs of slowing down.
SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Servite suffered their first loss of the season to rival Mater Dei. It was a close match-up, but at the end of the day the Monarchs took a 189-200 victory. Martin Manalo was the Servite Medalist, posting a 37 for the day. "Sometimes a loss is an opportunity," said Head Coach Dane Jako. "They now have an opportunity in front of them, and will be able to refocus for the remainder of the season."
SERVITE VS YORBA LINDA
Varsity golf took on Yorba Linda High School and defeated them 189-208. Court Lewis and Brandon Brame shared medalist honors shooting even par 36's to lead the Friars to a victorious start after the spring break. This improved the Friars record to 12-1.
SERVITE VS LOYOLA
Servite took on Loyola High School on the road and came home with a 183-189 victory. Matt Wilson led the Friars with an even par, 35 at the Wilshire Country Club Course. Following him was Davis Holman with a 36 and Tanner Dice and Martin Manalo both held 37's.
SERVITE VS JSERRA
Servite defeated the Lions 183-205. The Friars were led by Martin Manalo, who shot a 35 and took medalist honors.
SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Servite took their second loss to Mater Dei at the Santa Ana Golf Course, 194-191. Court Lewis led the Friars with a 40 and Martin Manalo had a 43. The Monarchs had three players post scores in the 30's.

Martin Manalo finished at 148 tied with Blake Barens of Orange Lutheran. After a short playoff, Barens was crowned League Champion. Davis Holman finished with a 150 and placed 3rd. Friars Court Lewis, Matt Wilson, and Tanner Dice all finished at 151 and battled three holes into the playoffs to break the tie. Lewis finished in 4th, Wilson 5th, and Dice 6th. Brian Francke finished strong at 152 and went on to a playoff and placed 8th. All six of the Friars will advance to CIF Individual Finals. In addition Manalo, Holman, Lewis, Wilson and Dice all took Trinity League First Team and Francke and Brandon Brame (11th) made Second Team. Lacrosse
SERVITE VS NORTHWOOD/FOOTHILL
Varsity Lacrosse was defeated 13-10 by the tough Northwood High School team. The Frosh/Soph team lost their season opener to the talented Foothill High School, 0-18.
SERVITE VS DANA HILLS
Varsity Lacrosse took a close, 13-9 defeat against Dana Hills. After being down 8-2 at the half, the Friars fought back in the second half but came up short. The team scorers were Jack Turney with four goals, Evan Purpura with two, and Nick Prado, Brandon DeLaroche, and Brian Crosser each with one.
SERVITE VS BECKMAN
Lacrosse took a 5-10 loss to Beckman High School. They brushed themselves off and prepared for the Newport Harbor team.
SERVITE VS NEWPORT HARBOR
Varsity lacrosse lost to Newport Harbor 9-7 in a game closer than the score showed. Goalie Tyler Coleman had an outstanding game with 19 saves and Jack Turney led the offense with three goals. The JV team won 4-3 and the freshmen team also took a 7-4 win.

SERVITE VS JSERRA
Lacrosse was defeated 16-2 against the tough JSerra team. The JV team went back and forth with the Lions and the match ended in a tie. Four overtimes led the Friars to a shootout, where they took a 6-5 loss.
SERVITE VS YORBA LINDA
Lacrosse took a very close 9-8 loss to Yorba Linda High School. They were down most of the game and came close to coming back, but couldn't capitalize on scoring opportunities to take the win. Jack Turney and Evan Purpura led the scoring with three goals a piece. Junior Nick Prado also had a great game with five assists and one goal.
SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Lacrosse defeated Mater Dei 9-8 in a heated rivalry game. Servite jumped to take a 4-0 lead early in the game, but slowly watched their lead dwindle away. At the half, the Friars were still on top by one. Midway through the third quarter the Monarchs took a 7-6 lead. Senior Jack Turney then slammed in his fourth goal of the day to tie up the game. The game went back and forth as both teams took turns tying the score but ultimately the Friars took the victory with a last minute goal, by Ryan Thomas. Turney led the Friar scoring with four goals and Thomas added two of his own. Evan Purpura, Aaron Miali, and Michael Seaman added a goal each of their own. Tyler Coleman also had ten saves to keep the Friars on top.

Swim
SERVITE VS OXFORD ACADEMY
Servite defeated Oxford Academy 135-34. Joshua Graves (2.02.69) swam well and got a CIF consideration in the 200 IM. JB Lee (51.39) also did an outstanding job in the pool in the 100m. SERVITE VS SANTA MARGARITA
Servite swam well and qualified with consideration times in numerous events but fell to a deep Santa Margarita team. Winning races for the Friars were Stephen Marcin (50 free) , Jerad Kaskawal (200 free, CIF consideration time) , and Joshua Graves (500 free, CIF consideration time). Servite also attained consideration times in all three relays (4x50 Medley, 4x50 Free, 4x100 Free). SERVITE VS ORANGE LUTHERAN
Servite swim was successful on all levels against Orange Lutheran. The Varsity team dominated the Lancers 128-41. The JV team also won, 125-35 and the freshmen team was victorious, 109-37. The Friars won nine out of 11 races and swept five of the races. Max Weber had a consideration time in the 100 fly and Stephen Marcin had a consideration time in the 200 free style. SERVITE VS JSERRAVarsity traveled out to JSerra and decisively won the meet, 120-50. JV also had a solid performance 120-24. Frosh took a close win, 76-75. Jerad Kaskawal had a PR in the 500 free. SERVITE VS ESPERANZA
Servite tennis was defeated by Esperanza, 7-11. Richard Han won two out of three for the Friars. The number two doubles team, Paul Kim and Neil Patel also were victorious taking two out of three for the Friars. The JV Tennis team was also defeated, 5-11 by the talented Esperanza team. Ricky Belardi and Brandon Jones won both of their sets.
SERVITE VS FOUNTAIN VALLEY
Tennis played the very tough Fountain Valley team. Though some of their matches came close, the Friars took a 0-18 loss. In JV Tennis, Antonio Georgakopulous won all three of his singles sets and Taso Marcopulos won his debut singles match. They ultimately took a 7-11 loss against Fountain Valley. The Frosh team tried their hardest with Cade Pinker-Benard and Nicholas Foucrier winning all three of their doubles sets, but took a 9-9 loss to finish the day.

SERVITE VS EDISON
Varsity tennis had a 10-8 victory over Edison High School. The JV tennis team also defeated the Chargers, 16-2. Sophomore Captains John Perez and Quintin Stauber won all their matches, leading the Friars to a hefty victory.
SERVITE VS BECKMAN
Tennis took a loss to Beckman High School, 5-13. Richard Han took two out of three for the Friars. Jonathan Santana and Thomas Anderson played doubles and took one out of three. Their two losses were close at 4-6 and 5-7. Paul Kim and Neil Patel took a close 6-7 loss. The match was a lot closer than the score indicated because of the down to the wire games. Beckman High School is one of the top teams in the county and the Servite team played very hard. JV also took a 2-14 loss against Beckman. Freshman Antonio Georgakopoulos won both of his sets 7-6 and 6-3. He continues to be a dominant performer this season. The frosh/soph team played against Fullerton and won 10-8.
SERVITE VS YORBA LINDA
Servite defeated Yorba Linda High School, 12-6. Richard Han won all three of his sets, 6-4, 6-1, and 6-3. Jonathan Santana and Tom Anderson defeated their opponents in doubles in three sets 6-0, 6-3, and 6-2. Ryan Loughran and Brian Cox also were victorious in three sets, (6-3, 6-2, 6-2).
SERVITE VS OLU
Varsity tennis took on Orange Lutheran and was defeated 5-13. JV took a 13-5 victory from the Lancers.

SERVITE VS JSERRA
The Varsity team was victorious against JSerra, 10-8 with all of their doubles players winning all nine of their sets. The JV team also took a 15-3 win. Co-captains Quintin Stauber and John Perez swept in all of their sets leading the Friars to victory.
SERVITE VS ST JOHN BOSCO
Varsity tennis defeated St John Bosco 13-5. The JV Tennis team swept St John Bosco 18-0.
SERVITE VS SANTA MARGARITA
Varsity tennis was defeated by Santa Margarita High School, 5-13. The JV Tennis also took a loss from the talented Eagle team, 4-14.
SERVITE VS OLU
Varsity tennis took a 4-14 loss to the talented Orange Lutheran team. JV tennis won 13-4. SERVITE VS JSERRA
Tennis was successful on all levels against JSerra. The Varsity team defeated the Lions 12-6. The number one doubles team Jonathan Santana and Thomas Anderson swept their opponents, as did the number three doubles team, Brian Cox and Ryan Loughran. The JV team also had a great game beating JSerra, 18-0.
SERVITE VS ST JOHN BOSCO
Varsity Tennis took a 4-14 victory against St John Bosco. Richard Han, the number one singles player swept his opponent. Seven of the Friars points were attained from singles, and seven were from doubles. The JV team also defeated the Braves, 15-3.
SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Varsity Tennis took a heartbreaking 9-9 (78-77) loss against Mater Dei to close their season. They finished 4-6 in league. JV was successful beating the Monarchs, 11-7 and finishing 8-2 in league and 14-5 overall.

SERVITE VS LOS ALAMITOS
Track and Field defeated Los Alamitos at home in all categories. Zach Tombol was the star of the event throwing a solid 159 feet in discus and 50 feet, 9 inches in shot put.
SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Servite took on Mater Dei at home and was defeated. The Friars top performers were Travis Waller who had a PR in the 300 hurdles and Demetrious Lloyd who had a PR in the 800. Nico Ament won the 400 and had a PR and Brennan Carvalho won the long jump.

ARCADIA INVITATIONAL
Servite would like to recognize Zach Tombol who broke Servite's school record throwing discus at 178'4". This is just the beginning for Tombol who plans to train even harder to throw 180 and reach State. Tombol is a senior and will is committed to UC Santa Barbara in Track.
SERVITE VS OLU Servite took a close 63-73 loss against the tough Orange Lutheran team. Jesse Shank beat out three Lancers posting a 15-foot vault performance. He is now among the top 25 in the State.

SERVITE VS SANTA MARGARITA
Varsity volleyball had a great contest against Santa Margarita. They defeated the Eagles 3-0. The JV team also faired well 2-0. The freshmen team took a 0-2 loss.

SERVITE VS OLU
Servite battled back to beat Orange Lutheran 3-2 in an intense Trinity League matchup. Servite took the first set from Orange Lutheran 25-23. Orange Lutheran took games two and three from the Servite jumping out to the early lead in each set. The Lancers took a 12-9 lead over the Friars in the second and never looked back. Despite four kills from Neil Pau'u and three from Patrick Marx, Orange Lutheran took the second game win 25-19 and the momentum. Three kills by Marx and a kill by McEuen brought Servite to within one in the third game at 7-6. From there, the Lancers went on a seven-to-zero scoring run to extend their lead to 13-6 putting the game out of reach for the Friars. Orange Lutheran finished game three with five straight points to earn the victory 25-11. Orange Lutheran jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the fourth set but Servite battled back to tie the game and take the lead with a kill and a block from Marx and two aces by Kendrick. With the game tied at 14-14, the Friars pulled away with kills by Marx, McEuen and Hoertz to take a 21-17 lead. The Lancers went on a six-to-two scoring run to tie the game at 23-23. A kill out of the middle by Marx gave Servite set point. Orange Lutheran fended off two set points before Servite won the fourth set with an ace by Pau'u. McEuen led Servite to the win in the fifth set with four kills.

SERVITE VS JSERRA
The Friars came out strong in the first game taking the early lead over the Lions 7-3. Aces by Matt Hoertz and Cole Kendrick and kills from the Servite front row helped the Friars extend their lead, 22-17. Two hitting errors and a missed serve by JSerra allowed Servite to clinch the victory in game one 25-18. The Lions battled back to take games, two and three from the Friars 25-16 and 25-14. Servite and JSerra went point-for-point in game four leaving the game tied until 15-15. Hitting errors and missed serves by Servite gave JSerra the lead at 20-17. The Friars came within one with kills by Patrick Marx, Hoertz and Connor McEuen, 23-22. JSerra won the game four 25-22 to claim the match victory 3-1. SERVITE VS BOSCO
Varsity volleyball was defeated 0-3 against St John Bosco. The JV team won 2-1 and the Frosh/Soph squad shut out the Braves 2-1.

SERVITE VS MATER DEI
Varsity volleyball lost 1-3 to the talented Mater Dei team on the road. They had a comeback round in the first ,but lost the following three in an offensive stunner. JV and Frosh both won their matches in 2-1.

SERVITE VS SANTA MARGARITAPatrick Marx led a balanced attack as Servite defeated Santa Margarita 3-1. The Friars cruised in the first two sets winning 25-23 and 25-18, but the Eagles took set three, 25-20. There were four tie scores and three lead changes in the fourth set before Servite pulled away to clinch the victory 25-22. The Friars jumped out to the early lead in the first set, 11-3 and were able to maintain throughout by capitalizing on Santa Margarita hitting errors and spreading the offense. Neil Pau'u opened game two with two kills and a block for Servite as the Friars quickly took control, 7-2. Servite opened up a nine-point lead at 20-11, their biggest of the game, with three blocks out of the middle and kills from Connor McEuen and Matt Hoertz. Three kills from Pau'u combined with a kill from Marx and another Eagles error allowed Servite to finish off game two, 25-18. The third set was back and forth from the start as Servite took the lead early, but the Eagles battled back to tie the game at 11-11. An ace by Pau'u put the Friars up by one before Santa Margarita rallied to take a 17-16 lead. Kills out of the middle for Servite once again put a tie score on the board, 18-18. Unforced errors by the Friars allowed the Eagles to pull away and take game three 25-20. Servite and Santa Margarita battled in the fourth set with neither team leading by more than three points until late in the game. With an 18-17 lead, the Friars scored four consecutive points to go up, 22-17. The Eagles fought off the match point with a kill to come within three before a block by Richard Mitts clinched the victory for Servite, 25-22. Marx topped the squad with 15 kills adding 2.5 blocks and an ace on the night. McEuen and Pau'u assisted with the offense effort recording 14 kills apiece followed by Mitts with 10 and Hoertz with eight.

Volleyball took a tough 1-3 loss to the JSerra team. They dropped the first two, but came back to win the third game. (25-23) In the fourth, the score went back and forth but the Lions had an offensive charge toward the end taking the eventual win, 25-15. JV lost in 3, and the frosh team won in 2.

SERVITE VS BOSCO
With the game tied at two sets a piece, St John Bosco took the deciding fifth set to earn the match win over Servite 3-2. Servite and St John Bosco traded points in the first set until the Friars went on a scoring run to take a six-point lead at 18-12. A variety of Servite errors and aggressive play by the Braves front row allowed them to rally and pull with one at 23-22. The comeback was short-lived, however, as kills by Patrick Marx and Connor McEuen clinched the first set win for Servite, 25-23. Set two was a back and forth battle that saw 11 ties and five lead changes. With it even at 24-24, Servite went on a three-one scoring run, with kills by Marx, Hoertz and McEuen to end the game 27-25. After St John Bosco jumped out to a 10-7 lead in the third set, Servite evened it up at 10-10 with strong blocking and an ace from Cole Kendrick. The teams went point for point until St John Bosco went up by three, 17-14 after two kills and an error at the net by Servite. Coming out of the timeout, the Friars brought it within one at 17-16 but were never able to regain the lead dropping the third set 25-22. The beginning of the fourth set belonged to Servite, as another ace by Kendrick and three kills out of the middle gave the Friars the 4-3 advantage. With the game tied at 8-8, the Braves went on a three-point scoring run to take the lead and the momentum. St John Bosco went on to earn the win in set four, 25-18 forcing the match to the fifth. Refocused, Servite opened the fifth and deciding set, with two kills by Marx and a kill from Hoertz to go up 3-1. The Braves answered with two kills of their own and capitalized on a pair of Friars hitting errors to take command, 5-3. McEuen tied the game for Servite at 6-6 before St John Bosco made a run to go ahead by three. Two Braves errors and a kill by Marx brought Servite within two before St John Bosco finished the set 15-11 to earn the match win. With 43 assists on the night, Kendrick ran a balanced offense that saw Marx tally 13 kills while Neil Pau'u finished with 12. Physicals are coming up!!!
Servite Physicals are May 11, 2013
Physicals are scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Servite gym. Cost is $20 cash or check made payable to Servite Athletics. Doors will open at 8 am and close at 10:30 am. We do this to help ensure our volunteers of an end time. Paperwork can be found on the Servite Athletics page.

Physical Form
The history section of the physicals form must be completed prior to being screened. Please make sure to note the dates of the most recent immunizations. We will not be able to screen your son unless this portion of the form is filled out. Make sure that all applicable areas are signed and dated.
Emergency Form
Please make sure that all applicable areas are signed and dated. Also be aware that you are signing the CIF Code of Ethics and Concussion Waiver by completing this form. The information for the CIF Code of Ethics and Concussion Information Sheet are contained within the packet and are yours to keep.
ECG Screening
UCI provides ECG screening for your son at no extra charge! They do require a separate history and consent form that can be completed here by Clicking here.
There is an online history that must be completed and a consent form that must be printed and signed for collection by UCI staff at physicals.
Note: Physicals and emergency forms are due on June 1, 2013. We have moved the date up to make sure that all athletes in summer conditioning programs are covered. Athletes must have their paperwork turned in to the Athletics Office in the 400 building before participating in summer conditioning, no exceptions. Again the cost of Servite Physicals is $20, cash or check made payable to Servite Athletics.
