The new statue of Mary and Her Son Jesus has been installed!
The Grotto of Our Lady is now the immediate spiritual focus for students and guests entering the school and is utilized as a gathering place for prayer.
Mary's eyes are on her son with a look of smile and pride, drawing your gaze to Jesus' face. Jesus is a young man, ready to begin his formation as an apprentice carpenter; a carpenter's square tucked into his belt. Mary's left hand is on His shoulder encouraging Him to begin the next stage of His life while the other hand, on the crook of his arm, seems to pull Him back, apprehensive to let her boy go. The image reminds every young man of the love and sacrifice of motherhood as Mary stands in solidarity with every mother.
From the Servite parking lot, the new entrance leads visitors past the Servite crest and along a path with plaques representing the founders of the Servite Order. The procession paves the way toward the new Grotto of Our Lady where 7'6" statues of the Virgin Mary and her teenage son Jesus, stand. The inscription on the statue reads, "Do Whatever He Tells You." This project is part of the first phase of a long-term effort to provide Servite students with the facilities they need as they strive to become the best leaders possible for our nation and communities. Future projects include a new aquatics center and multi-sport complex and baseball field. Servite encourages anyone interested in the project to contact the Servite Advancement Office at 714-774-7575 ext: 1140.

From the Friar
By: Daniel Pezzullo '14
Key Club Making a Change!
The Servite Key Club raised tubs and tubs of stuffed animals, blankets, and baby clothing last week. The board members decided to announce a project that would benefit the children affected with cleft lips. Gregory Jenn '14, Key Club President, was astonished and proud of what his friar community could do. I am honored to be in the club and it's so cool seeing how everyone came together to help. The goods will be given to children born with abnormalities in 3rd world Countries. If untreated the following difficulties are what these children are facing: Failure to gain weight, Feeding problems, Flow of milk through nasal passages during feeding, Misaligned teeth, Poor growth, Recurrent ear infections, and Speech difficulties. The club is working closely with Operation of Hope. Pictured are the some of the members of the club and the donated items! Thank you to everyone who donated and made a difference in the lives of the children! For more information on how you can help visit www.operationofhope.com Rosary's Red and Gold For those who are unaware, Red & Gold is a production that has been present in the lives of students of Rosary High School since 1971. The school is split in two teams, Red and Gold, including a black team which handles all the technical side of the production, and led by a white team (a few hand selected seniors). The white team then proceeds to pick captains for categories such as Dance, Choral, Drama, Drill, Props, Publicity, etc. and then fills them with students from the student body. Those captains are put to the test to organize and direct the girls in the category assigned to them for the production. A lot of behind the scenes work is put into Red and Gold such as directing, script writing, creating the media for the show, costume designs, and so much more. Rosary High School is so involved with Red and Gold that they take ten minutes out of each block class period to have a "flex" period where they practice for the show.

Overtaken
The Counseling Department receives information about many different topics that affect young people. This particular topic has touched Orange County in significant ways, so we wanted to share the information with our parents in an effort to better educate our community on the dangers of prescription drug abuse. Please view this powerful documentary. If you have any questions or want more information, don't hesitate to contact your son's counselor or Ms. Debbie Blashaw, our Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator.
