New at the gallery: Collectible Art Books
We recently received a remarkable collection of vintage, collectible art books from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

Each book in the collection is unique: some contain limited edition prints, some are signed by artists and authors, some come in the original packaging.

Over the next few weeks, we will be featuring some of our favourite books in our newsletters. Visit the new Books page on our website to check out the whole collection and check back frequently as we add new books.

Shakespeare
by Pablo Picasso
and Louis Aragon
1965

This large format book features a series of drawings Picasso made to celebrate William Shakespeare's 400th birthday. Picasso sketched portraits of the bard in April 1964, as well as portraits of Hamlet and Yorick. When this book was published in 1965, Louis Aragon contributed an essay, "Shakespeare, Hamlet and Us," and a story about a dream set in Elizabethan-era Denmark entitled, "Murmur."  This is a limited edition book and includes an original lithograph of Picasso's Shakespeare portrait.

The gallery's copy of the book is numbered 343 out of 1000. The book is in excellent condition with slight wear to the slip cover.

Price $300.00
