HOW TO MEASURE UP
Do you want to measure up?
Do you compare yourself to others? Do they rate higher than you? Do they earn more? Are they smarter? Are they better looking? Do they have more friends?
In life we measure, we measure often, and the measurement controls our feelings, moods, and ego. If we don't measure up, we feel it, and we act it. We don't measure up.
Well, you do. You do measure up. You not only measure up, you exceed. You exceed others.
Stop comparing yourself to others. You are unique, and it's not up to you to measure and compare yourself to others.
You and I are both unique people. We each have strengths, and we have weaknesses. It is that simple.
You problem is you measure yourself to the 'best in the class' you know. Yet, you don't value that which is your strength. What comes easy to us is a strength and, most likely, something we can share with others. Yet, coming easy, you might not value it, might not see what a gift it is for others.
This person you don't measure up to doesn't measure up to you either. You both exceed the other in certain areas, as it should be. You both are good at certain things, fair at others, and awful at some. That is the way of life.
The only measurement that counts, and that is real, is the measurement within. It's measuring where you started, where you are now, and where you are headed. It takes learning, practice, focus, and time. With all of these you can and will become better. The measurement is to know you are working at it, you are getting better, and you are prospering.
So, you do measure up, you only have to do the work. If you want to measure up, then measure where you are and do what you have to do to succeed. If it means enough to you, you'll do it. You'll get better and measure up higher and higher.
Now, about that other person. They don't matter when it comes to you. You do your best, and let them do their best. Each of you can and should succeed.
Life is not a contest between people. It's a contest between you and you. It's you who is here to grow, to succeed, to learn, and to do better. Watch, measure yourself, and you'll measure up.
